It's still sold on the american market novaneil,

Chevrolet use it.

Swindon go to all the hassle of turning the head, making cam covers etc, and the put the opel writing upside down

Theres a swindon xe for sale stil with reverse head for 10k, cheap as there prob 25k engnes new. A reverse head is 3k bare.

Right, my exhaust comes out the rear and inlet on the front, is that reverse head?

Pretty excited about discovering this, although its just the standard factory engine.

No.

It would be a reverse head if you were to switch it around and have the inlet at the rear and ehaust at the front.

If your refering to the cav driven at tvl I believe it's the cav already featured in tv, from the 93 season iirc, and as such does not run the Swindon reverse head design

The reverse head was also for better heat management I believe, and they gained around 7bhp by having a better routed exhaust manifod too

Don't all fords have the inlet at the front and exhaust at the back ?

I didnt know the cavalier had been featured in tv , it doesn't have a reverse head but it was the first cavalier
What is the spec of the Swindon engines ?

that cav is the one that was a prototype rear wheel drive its a very early car from around 89 the rear wheel drive idea was scrapped due to transmition and handling issus

Wasn't it originally a turbo shell??

IIRC Cleland mentioned in the write up that it has the transmission tunnel and cutouts for the transfer box etc.

As is most FWD cars and even 4wd cars.

The other would be longitudinal mounted, which would mostly be RWD and some 4wd and even some FWD cars.

defines that a reverse head is one where the inlet is on the front of the engine and the exhaust on the back, so the puma DOES have a reverse head puma is deffo one awesoem car
