I know people who have used them. At best they didn't boost properly, laggy and dropping boost. At worst it will fall apart and wreck your engine.

Fitted the new turbo today, the old one was totally spannered, oil pissing out of the exhaust side and the fins on the compressor side have been eating their way into the housing. The bearing is slacker than a whores fanny!

Primed it up properly, let it run at idle for about 30 minutes, then gave it some abuse.

Smoking problem solved so I guess I'll have to see how it lasts.

To be honest the chinese turbo looked better than the factory one! even the welds on the actuator bracket on the chinese copy were more substantial.

There wasn't a puff of smoke coming from it yesterday when you were in front of me. And we weren't hanging around!

Just a technical way of saying, held the shaft still until the bearings filled with oil

Maybe that's why all these VXR turbos fail? People that re-fit them do not prime them?

Update: Chinese turbos were mentioned in another post so I thought I'd update this one

The Wingchong Factory 7 turbo has been running well for just over 2 years and about 25k miles.

Some chinese stuff is fine to use imo.

My air rifle is chinese made, but has an american brand name on it, so i guess they have to meet certain standards to avoid a lawsuit.

Certain chinese stuff is deffo crap though

Noticing the smoke is no good if the smoke is because it's completely destroyed and dumped the oil content of the engine out of your exhaust
