My 306 has been pretty good until today lol
Couldnt get up the driveway to get to my Horse, tried going up forwards in all manner of gears
then remembered this thread and tried reversing but to no avail so just had to abandon the car and walk the half mile up to the farm lol

My S2K is total bollox in the snow, no weight over the rear wheels, LSD, wide tyres, might as well walk everywhere!
Funnily enough it was exactly the same in the RX7! drove the misus 206 to work today, no problems!
P.S dont get me wrong RWD in the snow is fun, but when you actually want to get home or go somewhere its far from it

My clio 172 is quite interesting in the snow/ice tbh Just need to learn to be gentle on the throttle. It's when the ABS kicks in even if you breathe on the brake that scares me!
Ohh...and the fact the lock for the petrol cap froze shut so had to run some warm water over it

Never driven mine in proper snow. Dont trust anyone elses driving, they just go at the same speed as they do when its dry then realise they cant stop when they go to brake.

4WD/AWD would be better. If you had a Defender with offroad tyres I don't think you'd be able to beat it.
However it depends what you class as thick snow, or just surface snow when RWD is better? I completely disagree. Dad's 120d was terrible. My 12v has never missed a beat in the snow and can pull off on anything. Only got unstuck when I drove in 15cms worth of snow by accident. Then again I reckon most cars would.

My Derv Passat has been loving the snow.
Obviously traction hasnt been all that but its got everywhere i wanted to, including an hour drive over saddleworth/scammonden moor in 4/6" snow. Just to see if we could make it And we did!
Dads not even bothered to move his 325, but he's a nancy and drives like a grandma

My Dad had the Freelander out today. Got to a hill most people couldn't get up and it just went up no bother. Then coming down it was quite slippy so put hill descent on and away you go piece of cake

My MX5 is terrible, no weight at all over the rear so it spins up so easily great fun once you actually get going though

I've never had any problems with front wheel drive but rear wheel drive can be useless..the worst in my experience being an automatic rear 5 series with fat tyres.

I just put it in Low box and let it roll in first - does the same thing

My Nova has been fine too, had some fun in it and I've managed to damage the steering by doing this, apart from that no worrys at all, got stuck behind a cop doing 5mph while I could have happily driven at 20, didn't think overtaking him would have been a wise move though.

I managed to drive out 2m before spinning the wheels and getting stuck in the M3. No matter what i did, traction control on/off, 2nd gear, reverse etc, I wasn't going anywhere.
I stole my brother's Honda Jazz and whizzed off easily instead
Last night, I smashed my other brother's Corsa when the car slid for 30m through a junction and straight into another car whilst going 10-15mph
Last year, my A4 Quattro fancied driving into kerbs for fun in the winter.
My conclusion, winter and icy conditions suck ass whatever the car

So it brakes which ever wheel has grip for you just by putting it in low box?

See you sense of humor is in full swing.
