Strange. Mates 05 plate tdi ibiza, is planted wet and dry. Has expensive tyres on it, but the grip is excellent. I wouldnt imagine it to do this. And ive given it some abuse

there arent many tyres that are good in the wet tbh...and there is that much oil/diesel on the roads now...its not worth doing anything when its damp. I have learned that recentlyt more than ever, as the tyres on the cav are shite and it locks up/spins up/slides about whenever something untoward is done.
When i had the T1R's on the corsa, i thought they were superb...and having had paradas before it was defo an improvement in the wet!

if you're talking about my brothers company car rich they're Avon ZZ3's all round. same as what jacks got on his civic. really good tires wet and dry, just seem to grip and grip. and i couldn't believe how well that ibiza handles

I've said it before but people always say how the semi independent is better, but I don't agree. I think if you get it wrong with the semi independent rear it tends to happen quickly and you it doesn't warn you like say the rear setups on Corsa B/C where it's a gradual thing as it lets go and you can feel it.
They are brilliant in the dry as you can get it back into shape but put the unexpected into the equation and it tends to get dangerous.
amen to that!
mud, wet road and gravel =

all that at 45mph

mud and gravel were my issues but the lift of oversteer had almost caught me out in the past very dangerous

i have poop tyres on the rear of my VRS and in the wet it's very easy to get some good old lift off oversteer.
i dont want to put a rarb because it ll make things worse!

mine wasnt through lifting off as i didnt until the back stepped out, im blaming shite tyres (cant remember whats on there but not going to be amazing thats for sure.
I also wouldnt say mine was through bad driving as it happend at about 15miles an hour which is hardly reckless on a roundabout now is it, especially as the roundabouts pretty dam big.

shes in the hands of the insurance at the moment, bit gutted as it had full leathers and bluetooth etc which i could have shifted. engine would have been no use think it slipped a tooth and knackered it.
Hopefully will have another one by next weekend

If you did decide it was worth buying it and breaking it, I want the rear beam !
You must like them, I like my Zetec S but if I smashed it up I wouldn't buy another one

It is bad driving, I can say that 100%.
If you are driving appropriately you won't ever crash, someone would have to come out of nowhere and hit you.

admirals policy is not to sell cars back and im guessing since they said 10k to fix it im guessing they wont be keen on selling it back. i did love that car and would get another in seconds, however insurance at 21 will not be to clever looking at the quotes im getting and have to think about my house etc.
john what if you had a blow out, not your fault and nobody else involved or similar circumtstances to mine, lots of mud on the road from a tractor which was impossible to see really at 10pm

A blow out isn't your control though.
There is no denying if you are driving appropriatly a car doesn't just crash? I'm not saying I'm some awesome driver, I've had a couple of bumps but I take responsibility as I was acting the fool but cars don't just crash. Fact.

Unfortunately I'm with Joe on this one.
If they were that bad they would have been recalled, like the Merc A-class and Audi TT.
