Clio but the previous version, new one as good as it is, is a ugly piece of shit.
Corsa Arctic if you can get one, Janspeed or DAP springs and they look perfect.

Clio based on looks
Vxr based on the fact i dont want to own a french car
500 i would never own one although i do think they look cool, just a very girly car imo.

Right no to Astra VXR as its near M3 insurance/fuel and tyres. So id rather an M3.
The Meganne is to die for, white R26 F1 please! But im not sure it would be that much cheaper then the zimmer to run.
Just went and sat in an Abarth VERY nice, i think they are cool as fuck. Cheap too, but if i got the options i wanted it would be expensive.
Less said about my Renault retial experience the better

Drive each one and see how you feel.
I'd say Clio as I think its the most accomplished one and the 200 Cup I test drove was miles ahead of my 182 in terms of build and comfort it even felt more direct too.

If it was a 197 it would have to be one exactly like this:

Make sure you get one with CUP packs so fully loaded but with Cup suspension spoiler pack, and Recaros.
For some reason ones without the cup packs depreciate like lead baloons

Did they change the gearing on the 197 in the later ones as read a few reviews that said the early ones rev their heads off in 6th on the motorway

Clio will be worth about £6000 when you come to sell it if you run it for 3 years. They loose so much cash its unreal.
If i was you id get a 6 month old Corsa VXR or abarth 500 from a dealer and save loosing the vat right away. Also have you considered a mito or cooper S?

Tough one.
500 would be out first time, too girly, would personally feel stupid driving one no matter how powerful it is.
Clio looks the best by far - not too chav, but enough bits and pieces on it to look the part. Would have to be in black for me though.
And the Corsa isn't french - a big plus

i would say the corsa, just have a soft spot for them especially in arden blue, and my uncle has one and it is such a good car, i love the looks of the clio, and the power to but my mate currently had the limited edtion one in the goldy/yellow colour and had nothing but problems with it so he got his money back!
