Get an audi quattro, they are 4x4.
What about a toyota hi-lux, just through them in the back.

In all seriousness, http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200941343351137/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/lincoln/page/1/postcode/ml85nu/quicksearch/true?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostcode%2Fml85nu%2Fmake%2Flincoln%2Fpage%2F1%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fquicksearch%2Ftrue&anchor=advert200941343351137&logcode=p .........

In all proper seriousnessness http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200943344440913/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/mitsubishi/model/l200/page/1/postcode/ml85nu/quicksearch/true?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostcode%2Fml85nu%2Fmake%2Fmitsubishi%2Fmodel%2Fl200%2Fpage%2F1%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fquicksearch%2Ftrue&anchor=advert200943344440913&logcode=p

It is made in 1957 and has no engine but....

In all seriousnessnessness seriously
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200943344349432/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/mitsubishi/model/l200/quicksearch/true/page/1/postcode/ml85nu?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostcode%2Fml85nu%2Fmake%2Fmitsubishi%2Fmodel%2Fl200%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fquicksearch%2Ftrue%2Fpage%2F1&anchor=advert200943344349432&logcode=p

That will be fine.

A dog would manage fine in a pick up as long as you're not driving like a pillock.

Suppose as they don't have hands.
In all seriousness I know a few people with them and they put the dogs in the back and none have been killed yet.
P.S the 1957 thing is a misprint and so is 0.0L

Up the farm the dogs sit on the quad bikes when flying around at high speed and stay on just fine so will have no problem in a pick up. And as for that comment about 4x4 owners, a lot of my mates have them and use them off road on a regular basis! No need for them just to potter around a town/city. I'm after a navaro/L200

4x4s are practical. All social faux pas's aside they are popular for a reason. We had a range rover and it was one of the best vehicles we have ever owneed. We have 2 small dogs, but they fit perfectly in the back, in a deep enough environment that they felt safe and dint try to jmp over the seats that they did in the 3series estate.
Seats down it was as big as a blody transit! Its active suspension helped my ages grandfather get in and out of a car which is something he just couldnt do before.

It swallowed 2 children, shopping, 2 dogs and an old person in total refinement and comfort, soaking up the crappy uk roads and silly traffic calming measures.

Then it flooded and we safel.y drove through it all chuckling at all the people in normal cars who where stuck.

They are hugely practical, hence the appeal

I hate the stigma attached to them.

my mum has a 4x4 just for my nan as she can no longer get into and out of a low car because of her hips, there is no way my nan could get into my corsa so a 4x4 would help alot as i could take her places without her having to relay on my mum

If you are set one a 4x4, get a cherokee, either a v8 with LPG conversion or 2.5 turbo diesel.
Ours has been excellent over the last two years and gets a lot of abuse 5 dogs including a rottweiler in the back plus saddles etc, can get a lot in them, freelanders are crap IMO.

Not the attitude to have tbh. But why dont you look at a vitara. Get estate one. Cheap and reliable.
