took me 5 hours to do a 3 hour trip on saturday due to people like this.
All minor shunts but enough to cause jams.
Bit of rain fucks people over

It works in Germany, with only 2 lanes, and people approaching at 140-150mph
UK people are idiots, it wouldn't work.
They would have the "its my lane, i'll do what I want" attitude (said in Cartman voice).
But by removing the speed limit on stretches with no need for it (not all autobahns are derestricted as you probably know, am just clarifying) you become aware that someone may be approaching at a fair clip and as a result check your mirrors even more.
There's also signs which can be switched on to prevent lorries overtaking in busy times, keeping the outer two lanes less congested for your high speed run home.

In France they have similar rules on some parts of the autoroute. I.E. at certain times of day lorries aren't allowed out to overtake.

5 minutes ago i got stuck behind 3 YES 3! Seperate wankers doing 50 in the fast lane not even overtaking (obviously) had to undertake them on roundabouts as flashing didnt seem to get the point across. Fuckers.

Was going round the 25 just before then so could have been related if it had tailed back

Some people have no choice but to overtake at 70mph - 80mph.
I actually blame older drivers (including my dad!) that aren't aware/trained in hazard perception and therefore have to tough their brakes on the motorway/outside lane.
If you read the road, there shouldn't be any need to touch the brakes, only in an emergency.

I apply this theory although i find people dont follow so you get people getting quite close before they realise that traffic in general is slowing down
after spending alot of time on US roads i guess i put up with people over here, seriously the first time i went there with little motorway experience to be chucked onto a 6 lane highway with people going from the furtherest lane into the exit lane in one manoeuvre deff woke me up. I agree with alot of whats said here though why not use the slow lane if no one else is on the road

Am I correct in saying that to do higher speeds (anything over 130mph is "frowed" upon, but its still legal to go higher) you need to take an advanced driving test which is about 1000 Euros?
Yeah theres only certain ones you can put pedal to the metal And i've not been on any of the fookers yet Mind you, unless you got a car that can see at least 180, its not worth it

this man has my high standards seal of approval!!!!
You should never need to touch your brakes as said. If im getting that bit too close and the car ahead isn't moving, i just knock it from 6th to 4th, watch the speedo knock 10mph or so off, then im down to their speed level.
I don't touch the brakes if i don't need to.
What i DON'T get, is people who randomly brake, without anyone around them at all?????
I wouldn't say its older drivers, i'd say poor education as Learners arn't allowed on motorways, and get minimal training on dual carrageways which are "generally" only 2 lanes anyway.

I'm the same, but I wouldn't go from 100mph 6th gear to 4th maybe down to 5th and then another shift down to 4th with a quick blip of the throttle to make the downshift smoother, I rarely use the brakes on motorways but then that probably comes about like yourself from riding bikes and having to anticpate what every fucking moron on the road is going to do next.

100mph is my cruising speed. Period!!
Won't loose my license and will only gain 3 points. I can deal with that.
Indeed, everyone should have to ride a motorcycle to realise what hazzard perception if gives you. Makes driving a whole lot more stressfull though.
A2 is 4 lanes now, FOUR fucking lanes....
Someone is sat in lane 3 this morning. I undertook doing 75mph on my speedo (its a rarity on the bike, i get on the a2 straight away so have to cruise slowly to let the old Bandito warm up properly).
yes, they got the "theres 3 fucking lanes to your left, followed by, your a tanker" sign too.... tbh, I don't think they even say me on the road, or anyone else for that matter.

i never drive in the fast lane i prefer to fly along in the slow lane, if its busy ill sit at my 80-85 leptons in the middle very very rarely use the fast lane unless im actually passing some 1, if some1 wants to go faster than me then they can

John? You are exactly the kind of person we are talking about
If the motorway is empty you should always be in the nearside lane regardless of time of day or speed.

If you cant overtake safely Deano i.e quickly and efficiently then you shouldnt overtake. Overtaking is a manouver performed in the correct conditions where appropriate and safe to do so.

did you actually read my post?
i said that im always in the slow lane, if its busy, hence traffic i use the middle lane and only ever use the fast lane to over take? surely thats the correct way to drive

If it's busy you use the middle lane to overtake then return back to the nearside lane, you shouldn't sit in a particular lane apart from the nearside for any period of time.

so if its busy, hense wagons in the slow lane you would have me dip in and out over and over rather than carry on at a constant pace constantly overtaking, if there is a large gap i pull in again of course.
i think you misunderstand what i mean
