Problems which inevitably will be in the normal A6 V6 TDI as they share the same engine.

I thought Audi's were good cars?

yep the 2. tdi suffer from the camshaft issue

2.5?

The only other diesel in the a6 is the 1.9 which ive heard is a goodun but is quite agricultural and underpowered??

remap the 1.9

better option, and no worse than the 2.5 noise, refinment wise

Yeah well, an Audi isn't a Vauxhall is it. Just like a Porsche isn't a Citroen.
Only mugs go to the main dealer and pay over the odds for repairs anyway.

id argue that point to, but im to tired to go into why main dealers, with up to date 5052+ diagnositic eqipment costing 20k and properly trained techs are alot better than back street garages that think they can do everything with vag com and a lead off ebay

Yeah main dealer costs are a joke. When i left audi it was £97 an hour, normally to have a 17 year old apprentice work on their car

Depends who you know I suppose.

I wouldn't hold my breath if the local Audi parts department were anything to go by. Retards!

A trained audi tech is no better than a trained tech of any other marque.

For the most part you can do better with vagcom than a dealer computer.

Yeah normally, but some stupid things have slipped through the net due to a shite workshop controller and a six ramp workshop trying to get 30 cars a day through. Such as not tightning the wheel properly and it falling off on the M1

TBH Chaps, it seems as though every car has problems at some point so i guess i will still probably look at an allroad.

Must have had the full cam belt change, do the soapy water test on the airbags and check the cam lobes through the oil filler hole.

The rest is luck!

On another note. Putting aside reliability for a second. What are the allroads like to drive? Would it do what i want, ie. good motorway cruiser and semi offroad vehicle?

The mk5 Astravan is originally what i was going to go for, but with the 1.9 being a minimum of 6k used it puts me off considering the depriciation when the new model comes out. Also AstraSport owners report the van is very noisy in std form, which is really what i'm trying to get away from.

Then i had the idea of using an estate as a van, vinyl up the rear windows. This led me on to the Allroad. Saw a couple on the motorway tonight and my god they have a wide stance!

I would be spending 3.5-4.5k on one and at that price i really cant see it depreciating much, if anything (coming down from 30k).

I'll have a look at Touregs.

Anyone actually owned/driven an Allroad?

The UR Quattro is a glorious motor.

Everything else after that is just not in the same league in my experience.

Such a shame.
