The 2.2 isnt much quicker and chews more fuel, Id say he is right

2.2 is alright, I had one but if I was going to do it again I'd got for the 1.8 16v as well.

Is your question mark key stuck as said my opinion is based on the fact that the balance of extra poke but extra running costs of the 2.2 compared with the 1.8 makes the 1.8 the better option for most people.

Well tbh i get 35 mpg on a daily commute out of my 2.2 so id rather have the extra poke, the 1.8 isnt really anymore economical in reality, it also is no where near as nice to drive.

My 2.2 16v was quite quick, it kept up with a full fat Clio 182.

1.8 is better considering you have almost the same real world power, speed etc as the 2.2 without eating fuel
