your supposed to have a remap when you put an inlet on because they work better with the rev limiter raised. otherwise your not gaining that much

i know that it is usable ive had a vxperformance inlet on without a map. but you are supposed to have it mapped for all the mixtures and raised limt to see the full BHP

Cheers for all the comments guys!
Like i said previously, i dont fancy a XE because im going down the LET route next year when my insurance premium goes down.
Im already going to buy an inlet manifold off 'flame' so thats all sorted.
By the sound of things its a 50/50 with the remap, but at the end of the day if it increases the power just a fraction it mite as well be done
So thats a inlet, cams and possibly a remap.
Mite need more than £400, but i can work around that.

yeah they are worth every penny more, no air leaks, everything you need to fit it and it is very strong, so it wont crush in.

if your going down the LET route next year (couple of months away) i would just save that money to fund the LET.

an xe will be more than enough for you anyway after a 1.6, most of the parts can be used on the let conversion (iir) and you will sell the engine on no bother

dont bother with cams and dont bother with the re-map. waste of money/time for so little gain. 1st off you will want arp rod bolts so can rev the car to 7.5k, the inlet, decent ex manifold/system etc.
either xe it now...you'll get money back for the motor when LET it anyway. or just buy an LET and rebuild it ready, atleast then you know it will be a good motor.
and yeah i know fat phil, lives round the corner from me. drives like a todger

wouldn't you have to have it remapped to raise the limiter though?

I just fancy having abit of fun tuning the 16XE before i move on to the LET.
Ive got nothing against 20XE's i just fancy going strait from the 1.6 to the LET as ile be able to insure it next year and when i say next year i ment in like 6+ months, not strait away
This re-map or not is becoming a bit of a debate lol.
I think what im going to do is get the inlet manifold, because thats the main restrictive thing on the engine, then just leave it at that.
Spend the rest on asthetics, making it look nice ready for a conversion next year

The 1.6 can be fun without being really costly... if you're going to go for the inlet get the exhaust manifold too - then perhaps cams + remap
I had the flame inlet on my old corsa - was told it was a bitch to fit (took my mate almost 4 hours) but I noticed the difference straight away

Just not had chance to post up a for sale thread with pics yet!!

ill be behind you then when its wet and you stack it into the 1st roundabout, hedge, curb, etc to buy the motor off you.
if 6months or whatever build a decent LET, find a 6speed box, get all your mounts, shafts etc ready to do it, thats will cost best part of £2k id think, then need better brakes, suspension(dont know what you got on already) not as easy as just putting an LET in!

Kenzie: What do you want for it. find me some pics mate
Phillip2: im not stupid lol. Im not going to be Jumping into a let and crashing, ive drove a couple of turbs before. I understand theres a huge power difference. Its just my matesX16XETurbo wasted a redtop corsa, and i would quite like something that wil have him tbh lol.
Going to get this car done now, only needs £5-600 on it until its how id like it. Then after that with a bit of luck me and mr bettley shud be getting our lock-up in saltney, so can start finding a LET and rebuilding it
