Whitter - ford got 300bhp out of the 2.5t quite easily. Christ, just a remap on a focus st gets 270bhp. They just didnt want to put too much power in it as it just wouldnt be useable without a diff and it would make the rs look a bit pants only having 30bhp more.

I hear rumours are around starting price of about £20k going up to £26k odd for the super track day special jobbies.

But these are just reoprts and should not be taken as true facts.

They are making a model with the LSD and one without, why anyone would spec it without an LSD is beyond me.

It looks nothing like an astra vxr apart from the tailpipe, you lot need to get your eyes tested.

Not too shy

What other 2.0 T cars pack over 250BHP as standard apart from the S3

VW Sirroco R - 270bhp
Seat Leon R - 268bhp
Forcus RS (all be it 2.5) - 300bhp
VXR/S/R 270bhp / 300bhp
Mazda MP3 250bhp (but a few years old in design now, updated one will have more)..

Not many then

Mazda is 2.3

So you are talking about 2 engines - the Vauxhall and the VW engine?

Ben

I was saying the Ford is a bad engine quite the opposite - VXR highlighted that 250 is relatively low when in reality it isnt

The 2.5 is acracking engine is 225 form

And i am sure Renault could get more horses out the 2.0t if required just like VW do

so not really that lame is it

Also what Torque do they produce

As the 251lbs/f is not bad really

look at mitsubishi, they have 2 litre turbos at 360bhp and 360ish lbs/ft. (i'm aware of the FQ400 but don't know the stats on them) must be do-able for all the manufacturers, its just whether they want to build the all-out cars or whether they actually want to sell them in decent numbers. there must be other reasons behind it too

I never mentioned torque, or power delivery. I just said 250bhp (as in peak).

You have taken it upon yourself to delve in and get all rowdy far more than you needed to.

Please see the comment re Mitso, and scooby engines also. 276bhp+ a good 8 odd years ago. Europe is playing catchup. Also not seen any Vaux/Ford/Renault 2.0 t 4 pot making 700+ bhp many times as well (ignoring putting the power down). Even Andy N ran about 500 in his MG...

You made a comemnt that stated power was lame when in fact is around the normal for 2.0 T European cars. and no one mentioned modified engines

Just changing the goal posts

So get over it

Compatitive to other marques. Qoute the bit, and miss the important....

any more??

Usually VW are the ones to run lower power engines in favour of driveabiliity.

Completely agree - alot will be to do with cost as high power requires better internals

also emissions service intervals etc all come into it I owuld imagine
