Has anyone on here; who has one actually had all of these electrical problems? I know I haven't; (touch wood) nor has a mate with an 1.6 or another with an S3
Only thing I've managed to break has been the cup holder, but I did drop a bag on it

It's linking back to this
Been looking through the guys stock and the only cheap things he has are a Rover 214 Cabriolet, the A3 and there's an IS200 that seems massively overpriced to me

could you spend £190 more and get the astra 1.8? looks quite nice in the pics. 105k is nothing for newer cars as long as its been looked after.

If it's the one I think it is though it used to belong to my tattooist and I know how it's been treated

XE drivers just need to put a pan under their sump when the car is parked up to collect the oil ready to pour in back into the engine before driving off again

I just did a shit job of fitting the gaskets, plus I didn't do the 8v mod, or was it an Ecotec one that you were supposed to use? Either way, using a different engine now

The 1.8's are just about bareable power wise in the Astra, they are just pokey enough to make the car fun to drive.

In my experience, those 1.8 engines are fucking un-reliable and cost a absolute fucking fortune to repair when the electrics have catastrophic failure.
Only problem I've ever had with a 1.8 is the one I'm working on at the moment and thats because the person who fitted it fucked it up
The one in my corsa got driven hard on a regular basis and never missed a beat. I've also currently got a 1.8 (Z18XE) engined zafira and its faultless.
