For the dosh an Impreza is very hard to beat imo

they are quick enough, they break and handle fantasticaly, have 5 doors, big boot, easy to tune

just shite on fuel

nothing worse than being bored of something though so If you are bored of it shift it

I really really want a kitchen like that, although a property to put one in would be nice first

what about a z3m?

I almost bought a e36 m3 evo after the 911 but it just felt and looked really dated.

"lol at the Alan thing BTW

When you need the insurance sorting mate give me a shout..i know a fair bit about Scooby insurance after having 4 over the years Had my first at 21.

For example i'm with Rob at A plan which are now one of the best..Gary Moulson at Keith Micheals is also another top guy.You could easily call Rob with the details of my car and he will give you a cracking quote..as all my mods are listed too that's one less thing to worry about Don't bother with an E36 M3 they ain't much kop IMO I've had a 325i coupe in the past.

After owning an E36 M3 id do it! but there is alot of abused ones out there! and i personaly would avoid the 3.2 because of its unreliability! But i havent seen your car or owned a scoob! They arent slow cars and are also very fun

You dont really want the E36 do you? You said you wanted the E46... so each time you pass an E46 in your E36 you will wish you wasnt in the inferior model.

Save up for an E46, the E36 is just a cleverly badged 330i anyway, just a revvy rep car with high servicing costs.

Im not against scoobs at all! i would love a nice one like yours, and imho it might not be worth the risk, if there is nothing wrong with your car and its a clean as it looks then i really wouldnt take the risk! if the M3 is cheap then there is a reason its cheap and in most cases it will be an expensive repair!

i wouldnt say the scoob was any more of a drivers car than the M3, the M3 has no traction control, 320 BHP through a rear LSD.

If you drive an M3 hard, and its got a good clutch they really do become a handful! More so than any scoob/evo that ive been in!

not really

i have an e46 330ci (231bhp)and a mate has an e36 m3(3.0 280bhp) and the m3 engine is alot more agressive noticably more grunt.the m3 is semi stripped with fast road setup and point to point and in a straight line its a VERY capable car.

im going to go against most views on here and suggest the m3, comparing to a mates impreza p1 the m3 feels just as quick, and semi stripped and with a fast road setup it does well on the odd track day it goes to.

standard the m3 isnt as good as the e46 and wont be as quick as an impreza on the twisties but decent suspension, poss new diff, and maybe stripping will transform its handling.

depending on budget an e36 m3 gt or gt2 would be would be the best to get if you want it to hold its value very well but a nice e36 m3 3.0 can be had for just a few k, infact just looked on pistonheads and the average price on a m3 evo is 5-6k

Since an e46 is a newer car you would still need bmw servicing which costs a lot, e36s don't really, as long as they already have a good history do the servicing yourself and save thousands.
As for which e36 3.0 or 3.2 evo I would have the evo any day, they aren't that unreliable, the double vanos (variable valve timing) is known to break but it is actually very rare, its just known because thats the only thing that goes wrong with those engines.
Evos have over the 3.0....
6 speed box instead of 5
digital climate control instead of mechanical twisty knob.
quicker steering rack.
They have eccentric front suspension mounts that have better caster (actually the 3.0 might have them can't remember)
more power
more torque
newer
better seats
get them in facelift model.
