They probably get untold amounts of young lads wanting to drive everything, you can usually tell a timewaster but if you let some young lad go out and rag your car for 15 mins on your insurance, your fuel, your liability, your £10k car or whatever then sometimes you may question it.
I'm sure some are unnecessarily wankers but some are probably just being realistic/sensible.

I went to look at a new corsa SRi not long ago, and the guy just kept pushing and pushing for me to buy an SXi?? even though it was a cheaper car! Then booked me in for a test drive in a 1.2 SXi?
Then I said I was just looking around at the moment and wouldnt be buying that day but would look to very soon, he said well okay thanks for popping down and walked off.
Needless to say I cancelled my test drive!

I must admit me and a mate went into a citreon dealers in our suits (after work) and asked to test drive a saxo Vtr.... He took some details chucked us the trade plates and the keys... 2hrs later it was returned with an extra 100 miles on the clock kerbed alloys and bald front tyres.....
Yes i was a naughty boy for doing it!

Salesman at Vauxhall the other day was very helpful, was encouraging me to open the taps on the test drive etc. Didn't see 2 stone chips on the bonnet, but he pointed them out and is getting the bonnet repainted for me before I collect it.
Also turns out he is my supervisor at works father in law

Some salesmen are twats. They will obv lie to you at some point though, thats how they sell cars. I dont like how some judge you though, my mates dad has a large amount of cash, and went into Mitsibushi when the Evo 9 came out, dressed in work scruffs, looking round them, hes a big headed guy anyway and shouted to the salesman, excuse me can i test drive this please, and the salesman said, erm, are you sure you could afford this car sir? He said back, if i like it, ill pay cash, they soon let him have a go! and he bought it.

before buying my civic. i went to look at astra vxrs, found an arden blue one, 19'' wheels all the stuff youd want on one. so rang the garage and spoke to the manager, said he'd be happy to book a test drive and a general look around it.
the weekend came and i turned up dressed very smarlty to the garage with a mate. was all going well until we got in the car and started to drive out the fourcourt, he explained that i wasnt aloud to drive it away until the car was on the road??? finally got in the car adjusting my seat and clicked my seatbelt in, the manager stopped me and said with a really sarcastic attitude 'you know mate. you break it you buy it' i was like what the fuck!?!? really put me off buying one. the car wasnt for me in the end which i partly blame the dealer for. and subsequently after a week he rang me asking if was interested in buying it. so not being in a good mood i just said no im not interested because mainly of your attitude and would rather buy a car from a campsite from you and put the phone down

in fact this reminds me of one of the reps we have come round at work, the guys late 40's and still lives at home with mother, pays no rent etc etc and makes a dam pretty penny. Basically he's wedged to fuck! He's also an absoloute car nut, but his NSX just isnt as practical as he'd like for a rep-mobile so he starts looking round, and fancys owning a clio V6, finds one he likes the look of and calls the place tells them he'd probably be looking at doing some sort of deal involving the nsx (obviously garage try and bite his arm off) and tell him to come down, he turns up in the nsx and they tell him they arent interested in it because its a left hooker, so he asks for a test drive in the clio anyway and the salesman said "well we wont px your car so you obviously dont have the money to buy it anyway so we cant let you take it out"!!!!!
needless to say he left the garage shortly after.
