Well TBH it would primarily be used as a road car, occasionally a wee go on the track
If I'm being honest, its the look of it I like - I know feck all about cars !! I had my eye on it anyway before my wee visit to Knockhill last week when I decided I wanted to become a rally driver haha!!!

nice car, but have to agree with the fact that its near pointless buying a top of the range car for a track car.
You'll need money in the bank for running the car. Tyres/susp/brakes etc etc
Start with the lower model with the same engine and improve on that as and when.
Another thing to consider is the car not staying cosmetically nice. If you plan to do a fair amount of trackdays it'll soon look shabby.
One heavy trip into the gravel (it will happen) will damage the paint on the sills/poss bottom of door etc.
Have you considered better cars for the track?

An Integra typeR may be a better idea

Be done with it and get a 205 GTI for now. Cheap trackday fun.
Then if you're serious about it go in for something more expensive.

agreed, track cars ae beaten about and generally see a very hard time so this wouldnt hold value as much as it should so best off starting with something cheaper and anyway
15k on a track car

This would be a road car for occasional track use, maybe see track 3-4 times a year?
We'll need to think about selling the Convertible 1st anyway which might not be all that simple.
Dont really want something old and rusty.....we'll see

get a DC5 integra then.... more of sporty car than a mini.... good on the road or track. Or must it be a Mini?
You can get a DC5 for about 10k >

Why not just use your M3 on the track if its only 3 or 4 times a year? Makes more sense.

Jade likes her mini's...................
I'm not fussed tbh. I know there's better cars to be had but as we would be selling Jades car to make room its very much her decision.
Also insurance is a factor, we can get cover for a Coop S but anything Import might be a problem as Jades still a young lady with not much driving experience.
Could do as suggested and keep the convertible & get a early coop S dedicated track car for 6k........would it be a decent one at that price!?
M3 on track, has been thought of but again Jades never drove RWD & KH is constantly being rained on. I would have no problem going on in it but Im not sure Jade would!

Another alternative would be to buy an ex cooper cup car.
But that would be too hardcore for road use then!?
I don't 'think' we want a dedicated track car, more a road car which is track focused!?

Respectable!!
Might look into that then!!
Would it be backwards selling a low mileage 3yr old mini convertible for a higher mileage 6-7yr old coop S
Could maybe have both but I wasn't really open to the idea of running an extra car.
Mmmmm
I'll need to discuss it with the gaffer!!

they are nice cars, rare too. but 15k on a car that wil get ruined by track is not a good idea unless you have lots of spare cash laying about to fix it when it goes wrong/maintenance.

I have the Lohen stage 1 for my 02 Cooper S and uprated pads. I got it posted to NI and my mate it fitted for me. Got it when the TLC package ran out.
