GIANT FTW
not that i'm at all biased what with working in a giant dealership...
Personally I ride an XTC 3, but i'm currently only getting out once a week with the lads for a 10-15mile ride, but until I started riding a few weeks back i'd not properly ridden for over a year :/
ooops
Anyway

Personally I'd be spending the extra £60 and going for the stump jumper elite I'd pay £60 just for the customer service of Specialized.

Can you bike guys recommend a good mid priced helmet or place online that would recommend one?
My old one fell to bits yesterday so will head out on lunch break to get a new one.

Is there an Evans Cycles where you live? Thats your best bet. My helmet was only £40 so you dont have to spend a fortune.
I might be wrong here but unless you are spending serious money for a lightweight one they are all much of a muchness I'd say. I just go for what I like the look of and doesn't feel too heavy

Go on then if it were your money...
Trek Remedy 7
Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Elite
Lapierre Zesty (although dont know anyone with one & not heard much about them)
or something else
I quite like the Specialized, impressed with my Spesh road bike, get a good spec and its really well made.

Lapierre, trust me, SUCH a nice bike. We had the £3k one as a test bike and it was bloody awesome!
Depends what kind of riding you want to do tho!
