no sorry, car has gone,
you will need a brake pipe spanner. £10 ish
new cylinder £15 ish
new shoes if they have fluid on them £15ish

can of brake cleaner £5 ish

and some brake fluid £5 ish

dont both crimping the pipe. if its leaking, its full of air now anyway

I wont be able to carry out the work myself but cheers for the part list, what else do i need if i want to change drums and handbrake? just those?

Its easy really, shoes can be fiddly.

If you were going to do it yourself, invest in a gunson easybleed, what a superb tool it is, makes bleeding brakes so much quicker and easier.

I wouldnt be able to do it due to my lack of tools, a mate was gona do it in 2 weeks and im guessing i tempted fate by saying yea thats fine unless it gets worse before then

where would you get this easybleed thing from?

I got mine from ebay, but its in halfords etc too.

If he's not very competant with tools, all these people trying to convince him to fix his own brakes is a bit dodgy tbh

I did it on a mk3 astra and thought I'd be a smart arse and keep the shoe/spring assembly all together and take it off and put it on the hub complete. After realising I had to stretch it further than I first thought the whole shoe and tensioned spring shabang blew up and I lost a spring that I later found about 30 yards from the car.

I was still able to drive but I had to pump the brake a few times halfway down, then when you pressed it as normal the pedal wouldn't go to the floor and would give much better braking.

Its more the lack of the correct tools and knowledge but i can image something like the above happening or I would get everything off but then not able to rebuild it
