Guess its more like a real road situation than racing around a nice wide track.

Still i recon a XE'd corsa or a 106 gti could do the RS lol

agree no more than a fancy kitted st tbh. if the bvideo had long straights then people would complain that the course didnt suit the clio

exactly, you cant race someone and say, you only won because the roads are better for your car

VERY HEAVY.

But yes I do agree that the FRS has been massively overhyped by the media, it carrys an RS badge of course it will be overhyped.

The R26R is a much better car. Only downside is that it doesn't have 4 seats. But meh, who carries passengers in this day and age?

tbh if you put the clio in front it would be the same story, if not a case of the RS being closer.

What's the clio called?

Is it just me or did the guy driving the clio keep bouncing it off the limiter instead of changing?

Take them to the top gear track

The clio if its the cup one is 200bhp and 1204 kgs, the focus is 100 bhp more but nearly 1500kgs

No wonder the clio spanks it on the brakes!

Power to weight must be pretty much the same, so the vid is probably about right.

If my terrible maths are right the focus has about an extra 30bhp per ton on the clio. The Focus just needs bigger brakes or to go on a serious diet i rekon and the clio would be no problemo.

Yeah, Sport-Auto managed an 8:25 round the ring, so its a fair bit slower (9 seconds) than the R29.R which was a bit of a disappointment.

However, 8:25 is the same time as a Lotus Exige S, Jaguar XKR & Porsche Cayman S, so its not all bad.

Not being funny but i find it very hard to believe a Focus RS gets round the Nurburgring the same as a Exige S. Where are those figures from?

To be honest it stuck me as a little odd too.

Sport-Auto publish thier times on wiki...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleife_fastest_lap_times

There's also this site...
http://www.fastestlaps.com/track2.html

The lotus is light, but its not that powerful.

The RS is only 0.7 of a second behind the Exige S on Anglesey, and thats a much smaller tighter track.

The exige is heavier than my car! I always thought they would be uber light, suppose it makes sense with the wider track and extra spoilers etc. Bet the aero kills the high speed acceleration as well.

Oh man, Lotus' are gash

Edit - what is the plural for Lotus anyway? Loti? Lotuses? Yeah im bored.

That 8.25 is horseshit for a car with fancy suspension 300bhp and LSD and supposed to be the best thing in the entire world.

10 seconds over my standard shit handling VXR over a 12.9 mile distance is rubbish.

The clio has the same suspension set up as the focus. Add a diff and a bit more power (maybe supercherger) and i bet the clio would me a far better car.

No douting the focus is good but my oppinion is they are over rated.

I get that impression too ONLY from what i've seen of it in video's (before anyone starts saying yeah have you driven one blah) it looks oversteery which is obviously fine for dicking about but I bet this and the unstable rear end at high speed gets left off TG for example.

The Stig and the lap time will tell the true story though.

I'm not sure how well/badly its going to do.
