I'd rather the z myself, purely for the newer factor, in fact I'd do it now if I had the dosh! Good luck with it either way, if the diesel is going free or cheap send it my way lol

Very nice mate, I wouldn't bother with a C20LET though, it'll be a stupid amount of extra work.
You'd be massively better off with a Z20LET or LEH.

You're more likely to get a half decent engine if you have a z20let than a c20let I would have thought, and easier swap as well surely?

Cheers mate. They are quite a bit cheaper and tune better

May be but short funds mean that it'll be the clet

With short funds, I hardley imagine you've looked into the costs of putting either engine into it, I dont see why people bother when they dont have much money to do it properly.

How is buying the cheaper but more powerful engine not doing the conversion properlly. I have done lots of research into it, and not even 100% sure that I willbe doing an engie conversion. :\

but whats the likelyhood that you will end up paying out to have the c20let fixed up? Just my personal thoughts, I'd rather pay £5k or so up front and have a half decent z20let conversion than pay less, have the c20let and for it to turn out to be an absolute dog?

know what you mean but would obviously upgrade all the internals of the engine as the let is not designed for stupid power

Either way you're looking at spending a few grand for getting it done right.
Buying a cheaper more powerful engine doesn't mean you've done it right, there's much more to it than that.
I've not done a conversion myself or anything, but I know that you'll have a harder time fitting a C LET than a Z LET. The C may tune better, but it doesn't mean the Z is impossible to tune. There's loads of turbo's you could use, and plenty of other stuff too.
I know what I'd rather have out of an engine that's 20-odd years old and with lots of miles on it and one that's less than half the age and will almost certainly have less miles.
