No, because:
a) they get paid no matter how long the car stays clean.
b) once the paint has been cleaned properly, fully corrected so the paintwork is perfect and it gets properly protected with a high quality wax or sealant, it makes the car so much easier to look after. You can literally wash the car without even touching it.

As in a squeegee for your paint?
I don't know exactly what my brother would say, but I know for a fact he would advise you not to use one.
Even though the car has just been washed, and it should be free of dirt/dust/grit, you can't always guarentee that.
All it takes is a slight gust of wind to blow some dust/grit onto the car, and as soon as you drag the blade accross the paintwork, you could and probably will scratch it. Possibly not a big or a deep scratch, but over time as small ones build up and you accumulate more and more that will dull your paint, give you swirls and various other paint defects.
My brother (and probably thousands of other detailers world wide) use drying towels such as...
A Deep Pile Luxury Drying Towel
or
Poorboys Waffle Weave Towel
Even then, they wouldn't drag it accross or rub the paint with it. They use it in a dabbing/patting motion. Its be best way to ensure you don't drag any unwanted surface dirt accross the paint.
If the car has been waxed or sealed and the watter beads on the surface, then he will actually use a leaf blower to blow the water off the car. This further reduces the risk of damaging the paint, as you don't actually need to touch the paint.
My brother used to be able to wash and dry his car completely without touching it at all.
He would wet the car with the hose, spray on the snowfoam, let it soak and eat away the dirt for 10 mins. Wash off with his pressure washer, then rinse the car again with an open ended hose (this helps the water sheet off the paint faster) and then dry with the leaf blower. Job done.

Surely he spends more time taking pictures than washing the car. If I took my car to the Polish hand car wash and they spent half the time taking photos I'd want half my money back
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

The guides are quite good too. You might have already found them, but if not...

As for recommending a shampoo, i'm not sure on the best, but Polished Bliss wouldn't sell a product just because everyone already uses it and they would make a lot of money. They will only sell something if they've used it and they can recommend it.
They're always willing to help people and answer questions, and you can email them for free car care advise.
They also sponsor quite a few forums (such as the "Concours d'élégance" section of Passionford.com) so you could sign up/log in there and get some recommendations.
Since my brother owns and loves Subarus, i'm sure he would know the best products for you to use.
Your car is Sonic Blue isn't it? Same as the 22B. If so, look at this...

True.
I find the gold wash in Morrisons more than adequate.

You'd be surprised how many of the clients ask for copies of the photos so they can see exactly what was done.
One of his clients actually sold his Gallardo just by sending the prospective buyer a link to the detail on the internet. The guy could see exaclty what he was buying and what level of care was taken to ensure the car was top quality.

doesnt all that cutting and buffing of the paint take a tole after a while though. How many times can you use a mild rubbing compound on paint before you go to far

It totally depends on the car.
A lot of new cars have paint so thick, you could probably machine polish them 40-50 times, and it would be ok.
Hopefully this wouldn't be neccesary though.
On a light correction, they remove about 1-2 microns (one millionth of a meter).
To put that in perspective, a human hair is around 80 microns.
As you can see here, they use a micrometer to measure the thickness of paint jus to make sure there is no risk in burning through or removing too much.

That reading is 148 microns, so plenty of paint to play with if the car ever needed any major correction work.

Yes, but it shows up so much more than a torch would.
I didn't think there would be much difference, but when i first used one, i was blown away with it.
Definitely a worthwhile investment for a professional detailer.

Blukoo , you valeting slag, how lucky are you getting to work on that, i love these cars.
Saw it on detailingworld aswell, the glossy finish on that looks frickin awsome. Probably one of the best after valet pictures ive seen in my opinion.
Just one thing, a pre rinse with R222?, ive not heard of this one, who makes it.

whats the mat under the car for?
When they're washing the car, the mat gets inflated to form basically a paddling pool. They then empty that into a water tank which gets emptied by some company. Its to try and save water.
Cool. I just always thought it was so no stones or shit bounced up at the car if the jet wash was pointed in that direction.
