Are people getting confused with common rail and the new 2.0 16v PD's?

VAG haven't started using the common rail engines until recently.

06 plate will be PD140.

As John says they only started using the common rails in the last year or so. Basically at the time the latest shape A4 was launched

Really!?

Power delivery seems nothing like the 130 then.

I understand its a bigger car, heavier but still its nowhere near as punchy.

It's a totally different engine than the PD130, just not CR.

I've not noticed that much difference in them although the way the 130 gave you a big lump or torque and threw you back was always good.

The 1.9 130s are spikey with their power delivery.

The new 143 common rail is totally different, its very very smooth and quiet but a lot faster than the difference in power would suggest over the old PD engine.

Its probably not too far behind mine in outright speed till about 90. My Dad has the common rail engine in an A3 and used to have the PD140 before that and the PD couldn't get anywhere near mine.

There's been a bit of debate so far on briskoda about the new CR engines not being as good for tuning.

We'll find out more when there are more maps out, they are just starting to trickle through.

the new 2.0 are 143 and are common rail
The pd units are 140 and 170 and to be fair the 140 is a better unit

They chip to around 170 to 180 I beleive

With a remap and an air filter they see 200bhp and 300lb/ft
