14 working days it is IIRC, most say 2 weeks but its longer than that.
You MAY get lucky and get away with it, 80 on your speedo could of been a bit less, and they may of set it up to get anyone doing a little over (73, 74+).

The accuracy is nothing to do with the age of the car.
It doesn't matter how little you are over either, they will have a threshold which could be 70mph if they wanted.
Was it definitely a 70mph dual carriageway.
You'll either have been done or not done, we don't know.
If you have it'll be 3 points and a £60 fine.

its a 1996 car so i dont expect the speedo to be 100% ill just have to wiat and see
you say it was a dual carriage way, are there any signs on it to say its a 60mph zone?
you will be lucky to get away with it. they are not police vans anymore. and are not actually anything to do with the police. theyre money making machines trying to get as many people done as possible.
80mph is speeding. its points on the lisence time im afraid to say.

drive past it again see if you get 2 letters?
id give up going on about it. its a 50-50 if you will get done. nobody knows the answer if your speedo is out etc. even if it is, it doesnt mean anything. if you have been caught, you have been caught. nothing else you can do but sit and wait.

You are allowed to do 70mph Nic.
Can do whatever the speed limit of the road is, just not go on motorways.

wtf? you have to tell them about all points. when you get insurance they ask you in the first place. by not doing so, your invalidating your insurance policy and driving illegally.

Yep, easiest way.
I found out our X3 when at 100mph on the speedo is actually only at approx 94mph when on the way down to Plymouth last week.

That's quite close, most of the cars i've tried it with are just about bang on 10% the whole way round.

Just depends, I went through one at 85, slammed on to under 70 and never heard nothing, just depends how early you spotted it, and how much luck is on your side...

iirc you are allowed a speed of 10% over the limit before they will go ahead with it. now if you were doing 80, chances are your speedo will over read your realtime speed as all speedos do. therefore i doubt you were doing any more than 77. i should imagine you will get off with that 1 mate

you will be fine mate. as someone said, they usually do 10% + 1 or 2 or even as much as 4.
