From owning an XE, to now owning a 106 XSi (with GTi engine, granted a wee bit lighter), I know that it's believable Red one is lovely.

They're not the slowest thing in the world but straight line speed's not it's party piece. Fantastic handling wee things!

you should buy the old 106 rallye the 1.3 100bhp standard would give a 1.6 corsa a good run standard

1.3 106 rallye vs zetec-s

I've just bought a 106 Gti, my previous car was a 2.0 Corsa and straight line performance is pretty much the same...

My corsa was quicker than most too, 14.4 sec 1/4 mile. However the 106 isn't standard, its running 160 bhp which obviously helps! lol

With regards to handling theres no comparison, the 106 has a limited slip diff and well setup suspension and just sticks round the bend like nothing i've ever driven before!

Tbh, a n/a gti won't make over 160bhp without serious headwork or more to the point, bodies.

Most cammed gti's are around the 150 mark. (true power)

I'd say a breathed gti will be on par with an xe in a straight line.

thats only 2 cars though, there is tons of XE corsas and 106 GTis out there. That result could easily be the other way round just with completly different drivers.
