Probably standard for combe.
Then probably minimum Ferodo DS2500 pads.
Tyres are a bit shagged, so may buy new 17's with tyres (can't decide which though - want it to look standard ish, not boy racer).
Then maybe coil overs? I don't want to lose ride quality though.
And then maybe engine mods, but want to retain fuel economy.
Overall though, if I find it does the job standard on track at combe, I'll probably keep it standard.

TBH, ive seen the vids of you in the 106, and i think if you gave the s2000 a proper spanking, im sure it would be quicker than you think!
The problem is with your 106 (and i use to think the same with my corsa) because its loud, low, and still capable, you just dont think more powerfull cars are quicker!
Im sure the s2000 will make a nice job. I dont think you sound please with it

Awesome mate
Slightly concerned they traded up for one only 4 years newer
However, I haven't found any faults with the one I have, I'm enjoying it more and more I drive it.
richc. I know what you mean, this is what I was just explaining to butler on msn (he's concerned now I and his dad have S2000's, he won't stand a chance on track) - Basically my opinion is, in my 106 gti I would've beaten probably most / all s2000's on track (I have passed some before), however, if I can drive my s2k like I drove my 106 gti (i.e. committed) then I think I can probably go quicker than I did in the 106 gti. We'll see I guess.
The biggest problem is having to hold back from doing things to the engine. I was in gav's CTR today and his induction noise is immense, sounds like it's on throttle bodies! Plus he was telling me about the remaps you can get. However, I just want to leave the car as standard as possible / best fuel ecomomy.
Matt, does your parents one have the new 17's on it? You got a pic? I'm almost half tempted to buy the standard 17" honda s2000 alloys to keep my car looking as standard as possible.

yes mate.
Really though? Has S2000 got an LSD? Wish I could afford one tbh.
Yes.
Well, OJC and me had a rolling start drag race on the a33 on the way back. and we were dead level to 121 mph. Which surprised me, I expected him to pull past me.
However, I've driven the s2000 and then driven my 106 gti with cams and the 2 feels fairly similar speed wise. S2k probably has better top end though.
Don't be a gay, this will destroy a 172, it's 240bhp and like you have said there isn't anything in that and the Astra.
Remember the Astra is around about the same BHP but the Astra weighs more.

Phil (i work for honda )
interesting mate. I only realise who you were when I saw your car leave and I said 'was that Pip?'. I was hoping to see your dad's Ferrari 355
Why what's the advantage of taking the air box off? Does it stop it stuttering / kangerooing at low revs? Power gain? (what about heak soak though?) - Which honda do you work at? mine's due a service... I also want the gearbox / diff oil changed as I think it's never been done.
not sure on power gains but it derestricts the air filter massively and sounds awesome too.
i work at city honda in bstoke.
i could work out a nice price for a service for you if you want?

I may be interested in that pip.
Basically I'm not bothered about a big service, but definately want the gearbox and diff oil changed.

I dont know what is avalible for the S2k but the maps I was talking about were based on having a less restrictive centre pipe and airfilter and a full map using a fully mappable ECU like the hondata kpro. Gives you a big old increase at 5k and a little bit more top end. Plus you actually get better mpg
No idea why honda didnt just do this in the first place

That looks so nice! I love the S2000's *Jealous*, Will you be changing the wheels? One round here is lower on a set of black Rota's iirc. Looks mint
One Thing - Are they all the same engine power though? I was left disapointed with their performance after a top speed run on the A34 involving a S2k and my corsa...

Looks sweet
I'd go for some Rota's if your after wheels.
As for tuning - Kpro would be a good start (not cheap tho) & a Gruppe M if they do them for a S2k

Should all be about the same power - I'm told theres not all that much you can do engine wise short of supercharging as Honda have already wrung a hell of a lot out of it already whilst keeping it as reliable as possible.
Lots and lots that can be done to tighten up the handling even more though
