I was on V-power but am trying Tesco 99 again.

Had a Stage 2 Remap today too so i'll see how it goes on 99. May go back to V-Power tho.

Yes, big difference. If a engine is run on a higher octane fuel the ignition timing can be further advanced as it reduces knock.

If the timing is advanced the same amount on shit fuel the sensor will sence knock more often, thus retarding the ignition timing, which will cause a loss of power.

tesco 99 is the best, not just because its the highest octane but because its actually the cleanest fuel and has the most consistent quality throughout the country - its not actually far off race fuel for quality so its worth putting in just for that reason.

Otherwise on a standard road car, if the petrl station was selling normal unleaded and branded it as V-power or super high octane shizznit no one using it would notice.

i didn't really notice any differene between tesco 99 and 95 ron tbh.

the car was rolling roaded with a full tank of tesco 99 in at 253bhp, don't know if that's why it was such a high fly bhp?

I know that my dad delivered exactly the same fuel as tesco use(99 octane), to the silverstone britcar race, so it must be good if race cars use it

Well when we started racing we got lab tests of different fuels from different manufacturers near various circuits around the country.

Tests concluded tesco 99 is the cleanest, the best and most consistant quality across the board.

Your prejudices are futile, supermarkets sell the cheapest fuel and now the best quality fuel, so why are you against buying from them?

My Dad's ex Police T5 didn't run properly at all on 95 RON, it had to be 97 or more.

The EML came on, and it stuttered quite badly at some points in the rev range too.

10p more a litre to the average person is around £250 a year assuming you use £50 a week of it. im pretty sure that £250 could be spent on a much better performance enhancer such as manifold, cams, intake, remap etc.

normal 95 ron is sufficient for most cars unless they have been mapped otherwise. If it was that shit and bad for your engines then we would have very few high mileage engines out there. Super fuels are just a gimmick everyone knows that - tesco 99 being the only exception due to its quality, not its ron rating. I can never tell the difference between running 95 or super in a car, but i can tell the difference after fitting a tubular manifold or having it remapped...

Actually I just checked there v-power is 5p more than 95ron here so I would only save £80 a year.

why have a car mappen on shit fuel? You might as well bang some decent stuff in to get the most out of your engine

Its not shit fuel though is it? theres nothing wrong with 95 ron fuel at all. Do you even understand ron etc? If youve your car re-mapped to remove the factory emissions dips etc, you will see very little extra gains from using super fuels. Esp as most super fuels have a varying quality so what might one week be 98 ron the next week could be 96 ron and so on...

Shells quality control isnt all that, some Vpower we tested was as low as 95ron as the QUALITY was not consistent. however tesco fuels had consistent quality and this makes it a more worthy purchase as your actually getting what it says on the tin so if you had your engine mapped for a particular fuel theres more chance if it was mapped on tesco 99 you will fill it up again with the same quality fuel you used on the mapping session.
