engines arent fantastic

Yes thatc becuase half the people that gets there hands on the rags them to death without even a simple oil change now and again but then they expect them to last forever

There fantastic engines and can be pretty bomb proof also if lookd after, Theres a local around my way that has one with 190odd MILES on the clock thats had a very hard life and still gong very strong

Our wrx/sti has a pretty hard life but always sees a serivce even when it doesnt need it and still going very strong.

if i were in your position then i'd go for it, even if you only keep it 12months atleast it will be an experience.

what are your requirements from a car anyhoo? just wondering whatelse you have been looking at.

Car has to do the 50 mile commute each day and also for fun. Not really bothered about comfort. I have had my clio 4 years and love it, ever day look forward to driving it just gotta sell as it's getting on abit now.

Iv been looking at 225 tropheys, 2.2 vxr, was looking at a leon but was abit boaring

Rubbish

Its because number three is up by the turbo and the hot exhaust gases take a moment longer to get through the manifold there. Coupled with that one being the last to get fuel in the firing sequence, it means it gets a bit hotter than the others. The fact they go horizontally is nothing to do with it.

N/A Porsche engines go horizontally too, you don't hear about them melting pistons do you?

I've always liked them, I worked for a short time at Prodrive so have poked my way round some pretty special motors, but there are just too many out on the roads these days. I wanted something a bit special. And as mentioned elsewhere they're tea-leaf magnets.

definately agreed about there being soooooo many of them on the road, and be prepared to be hated by your neighbours when the boxer grumble starts to get on their nerves .

we see these for rebuilds quite often, mainly due to people sat flat out on the motorway. doing that WILL blow it up.

look after them like any performance car and itll be great.

flat out runs with blindly increased boost no doubt. They are so easy to get more power from that folk tend to forget about 'supporting' mods to enable safe use of boost.

First thing i did with white STi R was get it checked out on the dyno with DET cans and wideband. I wasnt comfortable with it boosting over standard without me know that the fueling was ok.

depends what you like at the end of the day, i have a clio 172 with 180ish bhp and a jetta 2ltr tdi with 200bhp and lots of torque, both quick cars really, clio is more fun jetta is a cruiser.

i don't think you can class a subaru in the same league as a remapped tdi.
