1.6 are soo appealing to me right now, but how much will it realy cost for around 160 bhp,

or even the 190 mark

cheaper and more cost effective to just do a conversion. Even if you rebuilt an XE and put it in it would still be cheaper than taking a 1.6 to 160bhp but the xe would be more reliable and better to drive.

If your just after high power figures then a conversion is the best route, if you must have a revvy, torqueless, peaky 1.6 with a high peak power then get your wallet out!

SBD managed 240bhp with bodies so 180bhp without seems probable.

Insurance is based on the car the engine came from. Im pretty sure a cavalier/vectrra v6 is a very low insurance group. i know putting a cav V6 in a corsa gsi actually lowers the premium.

And telling you insurance company you have all these extra performance mods ie cams, inlet, 4 branch, exhaust, re map etc will only raise your premium through the roof too. besides, im yet to hear of someone being done for having an undeclared xe in a corsa and i know lots of people who have had them and crahsed them and no one even picked up on the fact it had a different engine in, even with let's and V6's they still got away with it...

Not sure what mine is running (probs around 120bhp) I have:
- Flame inlet
- Straight through
- Induction kit

I would have thought mine would give 1.8 SRI's a good run for their money
