I like 'em but for 3500 I suppose I could be looking a lot of variation for the money... I wouldn't ever be after big power with any car I have really, 220ish BHP would be more than enough for a reliable daily driver for me lol I'm pretty sensible all in all anyway.

Hate to say this but my 1.6 Sport is just as "nice" to drive as the Ibiza in question. Just that the Ibiza is a lot quicker... but certainly doesn't feel much nicer to drive.
I've driven a fair few Corsa's and for some reason my current one drives brill compared to most, smooth tight gearbox makes a big diff as most seem super sloppy on Corsa B's...
Build quality aint brill on the Ibiza either... but for £2500 it'd have been a good buy. Shame it aint £2500 then lol.
I have to say from most cars I've experienced, not one motor ever sticks out as being "the best all rounder" in terms of speed, how it drives, handling/performance abilities, build etc. Maybe some people expect too much, but one thing not in question is the Corsa's generally shite stigma, and thats something I don't mind paying for to escape.
Not actually driven owt much more special than the Ibiza though but been in plenty of motors and still never massively impressed.
I think I'm definitely one of those people who'd never really be happy with cars I own, the only reason I've got the Corsa is because I don't wanna give it away and it's been 100% reliable and cheap to run for 2 years solid.

Nic I don't get why your so against them Everyone I know that owns one is happy with it, including 1 guy with the pitfully slow 1.4!
Also alot of people that sell theirs, then regret it!

im not against them at all. i just think over rated massively. theyre ok. theyre not brilliant. arent they just a polo underneath with mk3 golf bits? neither of which were any good? so i guess no doubts combined together they make a great car.

One on my golf use to do the same, cleaned the connections for the sensor and it started working properly again

Although its based on the polo (99-02), theres not that much thats similar. The suspension is mk2 Golf based front end and mk1 golf based rear end.
And theres other things to it too, I would much prefer to be in an Ibiza in a crash over a corsa, it has a 4star rating with having 4 airbags

but this thread was between a 172 and an ibiza nothing to do with a corsa till danny the lad brought his brand snobbery into it. such an anti corsa site this corsa site is at times.

If its not anything corsa releted nic anyone that mentions another make of car you accuse them of brand snobbery lol
Its just how it goes pal, alot of people have moved on from the corsa and bought better cars but stayed as regular members of the site.
