try flux, mine was just over £1500 19 with 1 years ncd and thats on a corsa let all mods declared.

I'd wait until your current policy has expired then go with a company that will likely insure you on a 1.6 (Adrianflux, Quinn, Elephant etc) then when you get it then swap.
Vauxhall insurance is suppose to be very god BUT..... I'm not sure on the modified side of things 
Wouldn't wanna waste 8 months of a policy specially as your getting into your 3rd NCD

im tempted to buy the car and not use it for 4 months, change a few bits on it and then insure it in the summer 
think thats silly idea though guys?
just done a go compare quote, and cheapest now on there is 2.2k :S and quickfit is 2.4k :S where as it was 2k on the last quote and 1.8k on phone

tbh the difference in speed and acceleration of a 1.6 compared to a 1.4 really isn't worth the step up imo.
Go for a 1.4 and drop a C20Xe in a couple of years

yeh no point buying a car to have it sat about for a few months.
buy something cheap that you can sell on in few months and maybe make few quid on it

Buy the 1.6 you want and a shitter for £200-£300 that youc an sell in 4 months.
I bought a shitter to last me a month and 18 months and 33k later its still worth the £300 i paid for it!

I tried getting a quote from Directline and they said sorry we are unable to ........" In other words they didnt want to insure me. I am 18 with 1 ncb.
My mate has a 1.6 golf claimed once and one speeding ticket, his insurance is £3500!

And my quote (also taken out :lol £627.
Not bad, ADRIAN FLUX.
They insured me on a Vitara Jeep for £259 a year with the same as above
