Granted they map may be good, but can't they get other information from the ECU like key codes and shit?

Only if they either give you a more aggressive map or give you an actual custom one, which I doubt if they're coming to you.

Also, i'm not disputing a custom map will be better, but unless you have loads of mods, especially on these much remapped engines, they won't get you an extra £300 worth of bhp and torque.

Yeah i wasn't having ago was just stating a fact..

They do it on your driveway or at work...Its just a Normal generic map for a Minmal of exhaust,dv and filter...But you can always adjust the timing like you could do with yours..

No you don't, most companies cover the software they flash, which is basically nothing and if it's generic they are using basically, if not exactly the same maps.

Convenience yes i'll agree, you have to be willing to remove and post the ecu and do without the car for a couple of days.

S'pose. I'm just thinking of my scooby days when it cost me £500 for a proper remap on the rollers for a day at the local tuners.

I emailed the postal ecu dude, as I wanted to know If I can go in person..

quote:

Hi Brett,
Yes we can remap this ECU.
If you are coming over in person then it is £175.
This is because we will end up getting involved and will run diagnostics before and after on the car.
If the car is present there isnt any point in not doing all these checks.. they are more than worth the extra £25..
At £175 it is still incredibly cheap.
Best regards,

What are the "checks" they do? I don't see why because I'm there in person they need to do checks, yet if it's by post they don't.

Just sort of annoying because it'll be in at Audi soon anyway having a service. They'll be able to tell me any of that. Ok, it's only £25 extra but still..

The checks are just reading any error codes it may have.

If it's got any they'll either just reset them or let you know if it's something that looks really bad.
