have done it before, but its only when your 17 and have a cheap car, get something worth a bit and you dont really speed unless you know its not excessive and safe.

people don't drive sensibly because they have a car thats worth a bit of cash. people just realise that driving like that has no place on them roads. 75 in a 30 ffs.

I got caught doing 120mph in a 60mph speed limit, i was lucky andd got a month and £458.
I was like you, long straight road yer in control of the car.
But it 30 for REASON and the REASON is normally houses/build-up area's, which in turn means peolpe, you kill someone you have to live with it.
Oh and it was a 60mph single carriage way in the middle of nowhere no car's around anywhere and i was on my own.
Since my ban i now don't really speed at all, apart from like 70 - 75 maybe in a 60.
I hope that is a learning curve.
Sorry for my out-burst

Right that's fucking plenty. Fair enough, the guy's been going way too fast according to the speed limit on that road, but which one of the people giving him abuse knows exactly which road it was done on and how busy it was? No-one. The fact is the guy's come on, not bragging or anything, and by the sounds of things he won't be doing it again in a hurry.
He made a mistake, got away with it from the crashing/ tragedy point of view but got caught by the police. They dealt with it in a way that they saw fit, I don't think a bunch of self righteous people on an internet forum are going to change anything about the way he drives.
He did something, got caught and has hopefully learnt something from it. Saying 'I hope you die' is a bit much for fucks sake.
I'm not condoning what he did, byt at the same time I realise that calling him a wanker is going to have no affect. Live and learn is what they say, I learnt the hard way by smashing a car at 70, now I don't take any chances at all. Hopefully this guy can learn from the police giving him a fright.

I said "i hope he kills himself not someone else" is diferent to "i hope he dies" so dont change my wording. Or do you think it would be ok for him to kill someone else and walk out of the accident unhurt? Id say the same to his face. Maybe if hes on a dual caraigeway at the time hes posting but doubling the speedlimit in an estate where people are likely to be walking about is over the line. I know were all stupid at some point but sometimes it goes beyond stupidity and into brainless activity.

^^^^ very true.
There is a time and a place to speed [a little]
And a 30mph zone is not that place, like a said, it's 30 for a reason no matter what the surroundings are.

But if he 'killed himself, not someone else' he would still die. So in theory that's what you said. I know exactly what you mean, you just could have chosen your words more carefully.
And again, you have no idea what road the incident happened on.
I'm just being as honest as possible. I'm willing to bet that at least one of these people giving a telling off is hiding behind the fact that they're on the internet and no-one can prove if they drive like a dick or not - they're just jumping on the good old corsasport bandwagon.

Thats irrelevant, it was a 30 zone, thats all that needs to be known. If it was a 60 then it would be different.

Road speed limits are decided on the type of road, how much traffic's going down it at peak times, surroundings and similair things. At 1 in the morning these things don't count as much - bearing in mind I've also never seen this road, but in the middle of the night I can guess it wasn't the most dangerous thing to be doing or it wouldn't have been done. If the guy has at least a bit of sense.
And I'm not sticking up for the guy. Just stopping people from ripping him to shreds - half the replies in here are not very constructive, to say the least.

At everyone on their moral high horses .
Im sure he knows hes an idiot for driving that speed but hopefully he will learn his lesson,
Me and my mates learnt the hard way, most of us drove like twats doing stupid speeds then one night a good mate of ours was killed as a passenger in another lads car because he lost control and hit a tree(speeding in a 30 zone).
He was 17 and had been driving three months.
The lad that was driving has got to live with the fact he killed someone, and that person could easily be you every time you drive because I'm sure he felt like he was in control.
If you even saw half the amount of grief and upset it caused you would change the way you drive.

Everything the Policeman said to you is true. You are a disgrace. If you had crashed tonight theres only one person in your car that deserved to die, yourself. Your girlfriend and your mate are lucky. I'll be suprised if she's still with you.

Oh why didnt you say so in the first place.. Crack on mate! Why not got 100mph next time?
