Waste of time changing oil every 3k miles unless you have some super high performance car/engine.
They honda engines surely don't need anywhere close to that, it's a modern engine, should be 10k at least.

If the manufacturer says 10k it's probably good for 15 or 20 without blowing up, going to the rng or doing a trackday every weekend fair enough but driving about normally and changing every 3k is nothing but a waste of money.

if i remember right the uk ep3 takes 4.2 litres with the filter, the dc5 takes 4.7 litres, yet i still have to buy another litre bottle and use about 300ml to get it to the top mark. damn japs.

doesn't do any harm does it. i know boys that change every 3k in all sorts of cars, and use tesco stuff, fresh oil cheap or not is better to them than 10k expensive oil.

is it really worth changing it so often?
I get 20 litres of oil for £30 and filters at less than £2 each so it's even cheaper for my cousin.
The secondhand block is £125, Then you have head set and bolts, Cam belt kit and water pump.
It;s gonna cost the best part of £400 by the time it's done, But it did need a cam belt change anyway.

i do lots of short journeys, and i do about 5k in a year
so
i change mine every 2k.
for that sake of £25 it keeps the engine clean, and smooth running

Well, as im running my engine in, im doing 2 changes over 1000 miles, and from then on i will be doing them every 1500 - 2000 miles.
My old x14xe got a change every 2k too.
I get oil and filters at vaux trade club prices...so i just got 20 litres of 10w/40 and 7 filters for £45. Genuine GM stuff.
I hate hearing ill engines...and it amazes me that some people just dont know that an engine needs looking after!

Why do the fuel filter every 9k? I know most VAG fuel filters last for about 80k!
My bros Alfa did around 50k without a service. it was fine!

I was doing mine every 10k when doing a shit load of miles. It will just be done once a year now Doubtful i'll do more than 4-5k if i work local.
IF i end up doing a few miles, i'll do it at 10k no mater what motor i have.
