The only way you'll know is by going and looking.

P.S. Is it a TDCi?!

Marmite on the dash, that's the only thing.

And red drums would go.

It'd definetly take a bit of getting used too

Apparently it's because the interior has red stitching, blue interior get blue dash, etc

I love these cars. Diesel or petrol. Think they're perfect out the box. And if the handling is anything like the LX I learnt in, it'll go round the twisties pretty good too

But only a CAT D, I'm sure it's fine. If you're worried about the structural integrity. . .don't crash. . .or crash backwards

My old Fiesta was on 45mm springs and it out handled alot of cars, Fiestas have a decent chassis, it's great fun!

And the only thing that would bother me is if something came up later on as a result, but that's why you check it over properly when buying it I guess.

Something worth looking at. You'll only know if it's the right car by going and having a look. Considering you're saving £2.5k may be get an AA inspection done?!

My car repair was about £1400 (with excess taken off), imagine what Zurich valued my car at in Feb '07

Yeah I would pay for a HPI check anyway on a car of this value.
Surprised they repaired it at that price!

The fact the owner is already saying it's a CAT D and not hiding it, is a good thing

Not written off:

I bet the Fiesta was no different

Don't ask me. Was in Feb '07. I had washed and waxed it the day before, so looked nice. My excess took the payment of the insurance company down to about £1400. Definitely wasn't written off. Further pics of damage in my garage

I asked him about any receipts for repairs, and he said he doesn't have any receipts but said if you weren't told about it you wouldn't be able to tell. Good sign I guess! It was also done a year ago so at least it's been driven since, so it drives straight etc.

I may be wrong, but on the V5C, it details the current owner and the previous owner, which means, you may be able to write to them and asked what the fuck happened?!

I bought a Starlet as a CAT C write off, and sorted it myself. No sweat.

Its usually really not as bad as people make out.

The insurance inspector will have already had a good look over it to see if its an economical repair. Thats his/her job. If it wasnt going to be economical, it'd be a CAT B, and thus not available for sale. Plus most new cars are made to be easier to be re-built with most parts being bolt-on/bolt-off.

Go for it
