Was a little joke timmy boy. Clearly pointed out i was lucky and the copper was a nice enough guy.

Didn't know the light was out in all fairness and will be sorted out in the morning along with the rear wiper rubber and a tyre on its limit. Peugeot pointed out it was 1.7 and just legal after they sored out the ECU this week.

Tyre is ordered if you would like to see the receipt!?!!

No thanks pugnut. NO need to see receipts, not that interested in a std pug.
You say the copper was a nice guy, as pretty much all of us are, but yet call him a twat on here because he used his discretion and told you to get a defect on your car fixed, when he could have just as easily given you a ticket.
For the record I have never given out a ticket for speeding, or for defective lights. I have a lot of better things to do with my time, but people, especially young people driving modified cars, need to remember that talking to us like the shit on your shoe will often result in you not getting the benefit of the doubt, and could land you with tickets whereas a verbal warning may have been given had you been polite.

You see - if you had a 12v and it was a bit windy you couldn't get to more than 60mph so wouldn't have been caught

Doing 98mph, he would covered 5 miles in 3 minutes. If the traffic car didn't have its lights flashing and was following a safe distance, its quite reasonably to think he might not have seen it. As he was probably paying more attention to what's in front of him at that speed, and not the hard to spot silver traffic cars now in use behind him.

(In no way do i say what he was doing is acceptable or excusable, but being honest, i do 120+every day going to work)

How the fuck is that a power trip!? If you walked onto a bus and started giving the bus driver lip, he would throw you off... But it's alright to give a policeman abuse because he's doing his job? I now await the "They fucking bully all us younger drivers because we drive modified cars etc etc" brigade to come out of the rafters.

Make up your mind mate! Kissing a coppers arse was clearly in his best interest from you what I've quoted you on.

Havent been on here for a while, I see corsasport hasnt changed.
I still dont understand why coppers go on modified car forums and expect not to witness their incompetent colleagues get slated!

Obviously anyone speeding can expect to get bent over backwards, but lets face it, the police have their reputation for a good reason.

You don't have to kiss ass to reason with a policeman. I've never kissed arse, but I've shown respect and they are FAR more diplomatic. I'm aware each cop is different, however there are obviously many different coppers, and I've never had a problem with any of them. Infact, the one who arrested me for drink driving is actually on this forum. I've never had a problem with him though as he's doing his job.

Morale of the story is: Don't break the law or give them a reason to stop you.

Edit: Btw I'm not saying you're incorrect mate. It's all down to personal opinions of the law and obviously the policeman you are dealing with in question.

Likewise. Couldn't care less what you think of me. You may or may not have met me, depending on which meets you and i have been to etc! I have been on this forum for a while now, and was on here before i became a copper. I do a bloody hard job, for a lot less money than some people on here, but wouldn't do another job whatever the money.

I have been into modifying cars, and still drive a modified car. I have not been stopped by police for 5+years, despite driving a modified car. My colleagues know I used to cruise, and that i still like my cars, but think no worse of me for it.

Most people on here have an appauling attitude towards police on here, but will undoubtedly behave differently when speaking to police. As others have said, police dont want you to kiss arse or grovel, what they want is to be treated politely.
I stopped a lad in a modified car last night who was driving with no lights on. Could have had a ticket, but instead sat and had a chat with him for 5. I can go and speak to 90% of the 'boy racers' where i work and have a laugh and joke with them. They know that if they overstep the mark they will be dealt with accordingly, but otherwise are left to their own devices.

People speed and mess around with cars, police know that, however, sometimes they get caught. If caught, deal with it, take the bollocking or the ticket, pay the fine and get over it.

Anyone else want to have a go?? here all night!

Likewise Adam, I was stopped years ago for speeding. Average speed was 84.??, top speed was 100+ on a NSL road. Was polite and offered choice between 3 points or a trip to court. Willingly accepted the points and learnt from a stupid mistake. Now i have a clean licence, and have actually worked with the bloke that gave me the ticket. He told me that on those figures, if i had been a cock with him i would have been to court and banned, but as i was ok with him i just got the points. Thats life.
