the bible munchers forget to say that a lot of stories were deliberately not put in the bible because they would contradict things even further.

The main thing that gets me is that the bible is supposed to be the word of god (i refuse to capitalise either word as a sign of disrespect ) yet IT WAS WRITTEN BY MAN! How can they place such utter belief and faith in a book written 1000s of years ago as a compilation of stories? Will we see people worshipping Harry Potter and going on pilgramages to Hogwards in years to come?

In the bible it says that a snake tells Adam to eat the apple,
Snakes dont talk. Fact.
Has anyone been watching how the earth was created on channel 4 with that dude from time team? Quite interesting, they reckon were all here by pure luck.

Let folk have their faith and beliefs whilst keeping your own. As long as no one is forcing their beliefs on me, I couldn't give a damn about what they think is right and wrong in regards to science or religion.

However, I am a science believer.

I believe in evolution and hate when people try to cram their beliefs in my face, when I know they are wrong.

We are Stargate SG1

Theory of that program is superb, but obviously totally in-correct.....

Or is it really that far off the truth?

not sure its the same program, but i saw something earlier in the year where the guy was talking about how many factors contributed to creating the life we know on earth today. he basically said that it is one big coincidence that they happened as they did and if it had been just slightly different, then the world would be a different place today. This theory unfortunately meant that the creationists had their counter argument pretty much laid out for them. they just said that there must have been somebody (God) to orchestrate all of this as there is no way it was a coincidence.

shelley, i have no problem with people beleiving things/having faith. However, if im brutally honest its holding civilisation back.

Ever since there has been a god there has been killing in his name.

Most if not all religeons preach intolerance and ignorence!

Because it has been used as proganda, to control and keep order in society, There has to be some power somewhere for there to be order imo.
I can't stand religion, but think the same as Shelley, I'm ok but try and push it down my throat and you will get twice back with stuff twice as logical.

What you're talking about Jambo is religious faith in it's most extreme. I understand the point you are making and partially agree, but faith in something/anything can do a lot for people and I try not to undermine that. But I agree with the intolerance/ignorance thing, it's mainly why I personally don't follow a religion. It's such a big topic to try and debate
