Indeed, got my Les Paul studio for not much over 500 and that was a Gibson.
And tbh getting the neck repaired won't be cheap 'cus it looks suspiciously like it'll have a set neck.

It's this one
Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty Les Paul Custom,Mahogany/Alder Body, set in Mahogany Neck, RosewoodFretboard, 3 Humbuckers, Block Inlays, gold Hardware.Color: Ebony
Cost £503:11 including case, has she been done?
She's ordered and paid for a replacement while they decide what's to happen with the damaged one

Looking at the comments on here, looks like there must have been.
Its trying to argue the case with the manufacturer thats going to be the problem. They have the pics but haven't commented since recieving them. If all else fails, we'll just have to try and make a claim through our home and contents insurance but we've no idea if it will be covered, we've never made a claim before.
The company is in Germany, so it'll need to be shipped back to them

Ive got an epiphone les paul as well- ive dropped it hundreds of times and nothing like that has happened.
My advice would be to pursue the delivery company/retailer and say it came like that. Say that someone else in the house took delivery and they didnt check it at the time. Working in retail I know that if you cause enough of a stink then they will eventually be forced into sorting it out for you.

Thanks for the advice Thats the route we're taking.
We've just got reply from the supplier. They're advising how to get it back to them, they have put a footnote in explaining that it will be inspected by their 'repairman' and the outcome will depend on his report they have added that by looking at the pics they think he will ok the refund but they are obliged to inform us of the procedures.

Not quite but my brother did accuse mum of breaking it while doing some sort of sliddy thing across the floor when doing her rather cool Brian May impersonation
