Ipod with all her favourite songs sounds perfect, and if you can just spend as much time with her as you can over the festive season. She's lucky to have someone like you by the sounds of things, and I'm sure she'll know when your there

Ipod idea sounds great.
Saving up news papers and magazines will means theres lots to read when she comes round and most of the stuff in the papers isn't news at all.
How about doing a scrap book and adding the headlines and news storys of whats happened whilst she has been in a coma. Will mean she can catch up on stuff quicker when she comes round.

Put some Xmas tunes on the iPod as well so she knows what time of year it is. Also maybe spend Xmas day with her in hospital. Depending on the type of person she is, she'll appreciate that more than anything.

I like the idea of making something yourself like a book with the newspaper cuttings in, not only of her and the accident. But all the big news stories like Woolies closing down etc.
I also like the ipod.
How about the favourite aftershave which liked and spray something with that. She could smell it.

ipod does seem like the best suggestion, just dont put any "best of the smiths" on it.
tough one for you though, must be doubly hard at this time of year, hope everything works out

The iPod seems the best idea tbh.
If she's not thought to have any memory loss a photo of you two together would probably be better than any present you could get her.
Edit: Best of wishes to you and her aswell mate

I really do feel for her and you, its a tricky time i imagine. I'd go with the music idea, but also so nice simple things for when she does come around.
Teddy's are good and maybe even a nice scented purfume ( if your allowed it in hospitals)

Whilst this would be nice, I'd check with the doctors first as to what state she could wake up in. She might not even know who she is and a picture with someone she sees as some bloke could be scary.
That sounds really harsh and horrible, but is true. I don't mean to sound inconsiderate etc if it does sound that way.

I suggested the ipod as I have read that people in comas tend to still have a good sense of hearing. As you cannot be with her all the time it would be a great way to keep her stimulated. I'm not fully coherent with comas so not sure if you have any subconcious alertness. If you do, she might be mighty bored just listening to machines beeping all day. Get some podcasts of her fave shows and maybe comedies.
I would be worried about pictures just now, not only might she not recognise you, but until she looks in a mirror she might not recognise herself so this could be an idea for when she is more alert.
All the best to you both though mate. You have your head screwed on and are doing all the right things.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Some good suggestions there! Thanks folks.
The problem is, we havent really been going out long. Ive known her since 2nd year at school, but we only got together in August this year. So we have no photos together, and im not entirely sure of her favourite things.
I think im going to get her a wee CD player as she has an Ipod already. Something that plays MP3's so i can bung a fair few on a cd at a time. I thought thatd be good as im sure the earphones from her Ipod would get annoying after a long period. I phoned the hosp and the nurse said thats fine too.
And with regards the photos, i think il play it safe and not do that, as it is very possible thats he wont recognise her and / or my face.
