lol i am not exactly a good writer! never could write an essay after reading a book or something.. thats something i alwaus strugeled with.

while uni may not teach u a lot, it gives u an expensive paper that will help to boost your wage..

starting wages for jobs i am looking at is 20k+ a year.
i understand that in 3 years i could get up to this wage without going to uni, but its the starting point that matters IMHO.

The debt you will be in after uni will completely cancel out the higher starting wage. If that's all you want it for, work up the three years because uni is all about essays and such, it's the main way you are assessed.

But on the personal statement front, I just wrote good things about myself. Why i'm brilliant etc etc haha. Experience i had bla bla and why i had an interest for the course. They're not looking for five star writing, you just have to sell yourself.

Yeah, don't think that just because you have a degree you'll immediately get a well paid job. My sister has a degree in Fashion Design or something like that, and only earns £18k/year as a Production Manager for a niché designer label.

Experience is the key to everything.

I agree Deano, uni should also be about experience and life learning because too many people leave having learnt fuck all and it leaves the tax payer thinking "What exactly did my money go towards". I think it's why so many people have a bad view of university.

Totally agree. The fact I have continued to live at home means I have missed the "Uni lifestyle" and learning curve of living away from home. Although I do appreciate the value of money still having to budget so much etc.

If you're going to Uni just for better money, it isn't the reason to be going. If it's to better yourself, further your education, knowledge and importantly do a job you want to get up in the morning for, then by all means Uni is the right thing. The work I want to go into, most companies, especially big companies, won't even get you in for an interview if you can't put "BA (Hons)" next to your name.

I think all living away from home teaches you is how to drink and maybe budget lol. I don't see any difference in me from the people living away from home to be honest.

I think once the first year wears off, it does make people more independent i.e. knowing about running a house etc.

Although 1 person with 2 brain cells can work that out anyway
