I'd rather have na R32 over an Astra VXR anyday, but i'd prefer a Vectra VXR over an Astra too, can pick them up for a song now aswell, Corsa doesn't even come into it.

R32 - Big engine - little performance.
Focus RS - Modern hot hatchs are much better. Visually, well its an 8+ year old design, VISUALLY i prefer the Mk4 888, but the RS is a better car. But then a Megane is a far superior car to the RS...

The VXR Astra, well as a drivers car, its good fun. Good power, pretty good handling, not so good in the wet though.

Bad points: Susension is hard for what it offers. Basic things are missing, that typical vauxhall misting, it need climate control. It needs a damn cup holder, or something to hold a drink, lack of places to store items that are easy to hand. Needs leccy mirrors, but I think that came standard on 07+ models.

Its a bloody good car, but it deffo could do with some improvements.

Think we're on about 35k now. I do love the 20,000 mile services (or 1 year). Makes my 4k service on the bike seem lame

Cup holder, our 55 plate had a cup holder? electric mirrors even base model Astra H have electric mirrors

Climate is optional extra.

R32 is poor IMO, far to expensive and not that great as the motoring press would have you believe.

The only hot hatch better than the VXR is the R26, the Focus and Astra are on par with each other, I don't believe one is better than the other, both have weaknesses and strengths.

The R26 is the class leader, but that will change come new year. Both the RS Focus and the run out model Astra VXR will be better.

But then do you class the Focus in the same league? Because of the price range? Surely it should be put against the Evo and Scooby.

Have you heard an Astra VXR with a Remus? Ok looks might not be everyones cup of tea for the Astra, I like the R32, not so much the Mk5 but the Mk4 is gorgeous.

Astra's with a remus sound Alot better than the new R32, but then i think a new R32 with an aftermarket exhaust would sound good too

Astra for £ and performance

That piddly ar5e thing in the glovebox, its lame, I want a popout like any of the german makes do. And that stupid "hole" between the drivers seats, only good for leaving marbles and M+M's. ITs not squared, it gets smaller the lower it gets. Its no good for rear passanger comfort either. Just a seat and seatbelts

Electric folding mirrors, not adjustable leccy mirrors.

I agree with all other stuff. Focus is in same leage as its FWD hot hatch, and the scoobie/evo are 4wd saloons.

Came very close to buying an Astra VXR before I got another Corsa. Stunning cars and one of the best Vauxhall have ever produced I think.

Turbo cars tend to be a bit more tappy than usual, but once the bonnet is shut you never hear it.
