If I tried to argue that, I'd be lying to myself alot. I do speed on my bike, because it's only my toy. It's so easily done and I can't help myself. You accelerate and all of a sudden you're doing 40mph more than when you last looked, it's cool but catches me out sometimes, I'm still not used to the speed I guess.

I'm same as Graham88, I have a bike and the car. Car is used every day and the bike is my toy, as has been said its so easy to go fast on a bike that overtaking etc is much safer than in a car, hence why you probably think the bikes are taking risks when really they are able to pass in gaps that a car would never even consider..

About the Horses: I always get horses doing their business outside my house on the road, theres no excuse for it, if i have to clean my dogs mess up when I'm walking him then you should have to clean your horses shit up too, and if it's not practical Keep the thing in a field where it belongs.
As for the Horses dont cause where and tear on the roads they didn't pay for them to be laid in the 1st place either so stay off them!!
By the way i do always slow down for horse on the roads, it's not their fault some badger is riding them on our roads Pretty much endangering them.
On another note I bought a CBR 600 today my 1st road bike

Bike is my weekend toy - has been for over 2 years
Rarely comes out during the week, and when it does as above - you either have utter tossers going out of their way to stop you or civilised drivers that move over even a foot to allow you past in traffic
As for the over XXMPH stuff - as Graham said, your never actually looking at the speedo like a car, just looking ahead. Look down briefly and your at mph X its then you realise.

And it's a different feeling of speed on a bike from a car.
On the note of horse shit, I lowsided my old bike into a bush whilst going through horse shit under heavy braking

I always move for bikers, no point trying to get in the way. Although, one thing that a biker did that annoyed me was when an old guy moved right a little bit and make the bike swerve, the biker punched his wing mirror off and carried on. Quite a bad lol.

I have seen a wing mirror be punched off before, I previously thought it was something other bikers said to biker mates to sound 'ard.
But the car driver purposely (or did a convincing job of looking like it was on purpose) swung towards another biker in the lane next to him.
I thought the biker was going to end up on the other side of the A2, the car driver deserved that.

I've allways said that about horse shit, it makes no sense that dog owners get fined for their dogs shitting outside when horse shit is 100 times bigger, and they get fuck all said to them.

i pay road tax for my car, thats enough. horses dont use, or cause the wear and tear to roads that cars do. please dont be naive
Since when was road tax actually about 'Road' use?? Its all emission based now, the government even admitted its now basically a 'Green' tax...
Horses fart more gas out than a weekend bike over the course of its life, so if its emission based, tax the fucking horses too! and clean the shit up after when you dump the load on the road, its farking dangerous in the wet - more so than a patch of diesel IMO

i agree with everything thats been said about horses so far. at least car drivers and bike riders are in control of their vehicles. horse riders, no matter how accomplished they are can never be in control of their horse. its a fucking animal with a brain and will do whatever it wants. its been mentioned that people should take into consideration the tempremental nature of horses......what a load of bollocks. if i was driving my car down a road and all of a sudden it started spazzing out and i lost all control of it then there would be serious investigations into wether or not my car is fit for road use. also, this we were here first attitude doesn't really mean anything these days. when horses we the main method of transport there was nothing else on the road. unfortunately it is now 2008 and motorised transport has taken over. horses are now just a hazzard.

Bieng a new biker i've not taken too many risks on overtaking/filtering in traffic, but you do see a few bikers taking risks like overtaking on a blind corner.
But there are a few drivers which cause these situations, but risk shouldn't be taken personally.
With regards to speed Graham said it right, it's a different feeling of speed on a bike from a car, still doesn't condone speeding but before you know it your x mph over the limit.

Bikers can go as fast as they want and pull whatever stunts they want.
Why oh why do they insist on sitting in the blind spot to my back right hand side though?

How often do you see horses on the road, never had a problem with them, slow down, go past quietly and carry on driving normal, whats so hard about that. Ok the shit thing is a point but as has been said its not at all practical, and if someone was shovelling shit out of the road as you was coming you would call them all the cunts goin.

Most I know including myself will sit to right but in your drivers mirror sight not blindspot. Just something taught in lessons. Sitting in a blindspot would be daft but you've obviously experienced this first hand so can't comment on them

a friendly nod or wave would be nice though seeing as i do ALWAYS slow down for them. the poo side of things is just an added annoyance which probably wouldnt bother me if they were to say thanks the same as the majority of other road users do if you have given way/slowed down/been considerate towards them. maybe its just the horse riders in my area?
