I find this to be very true, now that my mrs has gone to uni I'm always bored and looking for something to do... (which usually means going out to see my mates) but all they do is smoke (weed included) and I don't do that so feel like a bit of an outcast
And besides the best benefit of having a gf is that you don't have to go out looking for it! In most cases you should be able to get it when you want

"Lost good mates to women"
They haven't lost anything, its just that their mates are (as previously mentioned) 'growing up'. A mate is a mate no matter what, just because i don't go clubbing every weekend or see them every spare evening I have like i used to, doesn't mean i'm not their mate anymore. It just means I either have other commitments, or just don't fancy going out......
There's a group of about 9 of us who are good mates, out of those 9 there's only one person who is in a real relationship (by real i mean one where i actually love mine, and don't go out cheating every weekend).
Then there's 3 others who have girlfriends but as mentioned aren't real relationships, just fake ones like again mentioned above.
There's one who is travelling in Thailand having the time of his life (he was the other one of our group who knows what he wants with his life)
Then there's 4 others who are single, and very insecure, who don't have girlfriends (2 of them have never had a gf even at school) They are the ones who go out clubbing every weekend and make comments about under the thumb etc to me as i don't want to go out clubbing.
It just fucks me off, they think that going clubbing means they can "meet girls" when they never do, well they stand at the side saying "cor shes fit" but never actually approaching them.
Just gets my back up when you get labelled under the thumb when all your doing is growing up and spending your money better.

It's just their insecurity mate, one day they will learn

fuck me, took me ages to type, all these replies come in my bad!
Also forgot to add, i used to see my mates during the week, but all they would do is sit around a tele playing Pro Evo all night, now don't get me wrong I don't mind doing it if its fun, but with my mates it isn't. They think Evo is like a dominance thing, they think that being the best at Evo out of all of us makes them the better/bigger man so they take it DEADLY serious, there's been fights, broken controllers, teles all because someone loses etc, so to me that isn't fun.
Where as I can sit in my pants on the sofa, playing Fifa online vs some random guy having fun no matter if i win or lose, as what he doesn't know is i have one hand on my dick at all times!

They probably are cocks, i just don't see it as i've known them for so long. Most of us were in Year 7 together so since then really.
Then again i share more interests and hobbies with the guys i gym with or the guys i went to college with, they are my more mature friends who can actually chat about their lives and emotions etc, but they live miles away so i see them once in a blue moon, but when i do it feels like it was a week since i last saw them.
Sods law.

I have mates that don't come out as often, some due to money, some due to birds, some due to just being miserable bastards. I always organise stuff to do, nights in town, go to see a comedian or something. Its life, happens to everyone.
If you give them enough notice and organise something decent then you won't be let down.

Very true, i'll go out if its organised things such as go somewhere and see something new, or if its a birthday and i know in advance to save. But no chance i'm going out local and spending my money on a shit night. I live in a small town and the local club is tiny and shit, not like these big clubs you city boys are used to!

Was chatting to a mate today and we have been trying to organise a night out clubbing soon, or even just a night down the pub with the lads.
Seems to be a growing trend of a lot of our mates nerver coming out anymore! Never see them during the week and they don't even come out at weekends anymore!
Wondering if its because we're getting older (24) or something! Me and my my mate both have girlfriends ( I even live with mine) but they understand that we have time out now and again to go down the pub and watch footy/clubbing etc!
Anybody else experiencing the same?

Happens to most folk, I hardly go out much, never during the week, just the occasional weekend. Some mates still go clubbing & Fri-Sun partying but thats their choice. Sting once in a blue moon is alright.

I'm single, and have stopped going into town unless its a special occasion (someone's birthday or summat) Only town I go out in is Halifax, as my mates lives close to the centre and in his village there are no pubs. Even on a Saturday when i've been to Huddersfield after the match i'll have a couple in town then make my way back local.
Where I live, there are loads of Pub which are decent. I'd much rather spend a night in there rather than going down town where i'm been told what to wear, having to pay into bars be stood round a load of chavy 18 year old cunts trying to down 50 shots of aftershock bumping into me every 5 minutes before they go outside to be sick/fight
Dont get me wrong I like a night out as much as the next guy, but i'd rather go to an event or see a proper DJ than dance around to shite music in Walkabout all night Unless there is an event planned, you'll find me in the local, sat round with my mates having a decent conversation without having to shout at each other becuase of the music being too loud

all me and my mates all have the mrs's hardly any of us go "rock out the night life" any more lol.
but a few are under the thumb where you plan summit they're well up for it, weather it be going to pod for the day or even just to a football match.
but once they enquire with the mrs that puts an end to that.
usually the ones who are with there first serious girl friends who dont notice it till after they split up.
admitidly works out good for me can actully save up money now ha

i haven't been out clubbing or drinking for months. probably at least 6 months tbh.
don't see the point in it. it bores me.
would rather do something i enjoy like stay in and watch a film if i'm with the girlfriend.

What also bugs me is people who say I can't be arsed going to such a place. For example me and one mate generally go out on Sat nights to Preston, have a good night etc. We have one mate who will stop in even if he is doing nothing as he doesn't like going there.
For me its the company and being out with friends, I couldn't give a shit where we go. If I'm out with my mates I know I'll have a good night.

trouble is its a vicious circle the people who dont go out are always going to disagree with ones who like to.... i typically hate going out NOW! because night clubs are full of pikeys, you cant chat to ur friends cos the music is to loud and you just end up standing like bunch of lemmings holding a pint..
if i do go out id rather go to the local for couple of beers and some banter, night clubs are just dives....
my best mate and i have hung about since we was toddlers but now we are in our mid twenties we are still best mates but me and him are just typical of how different you can get.....
my mate has low paid job and lives with his girlfriend in a council flat with his girlfriend pregnant and has no money one day after payday cos he has to pay back all he has borrowed through the month plus his beer tabs from the pubs sometimes as high as 350quid per pub its rediculous, and he is out practically every night....
me i have good payed job, 2 cars a motorbike a 3 bed house and have 3 holidays a year and no debt but im a boring guy now cos i dont do what he does and blow my money up the pub, i would rather stay in with few cans, the mrs and good film and go out couple of times a month for just couple
