died in his sleep last night.
i dont see him as he lives in canada, and ive only met him few times, but its still sad, and my mum is in bit of shock today. even though we knew it woul dhappen, but i cant imagine what my mum must feel, as her brother and sister died quite few years ago, not of any diseases but in accidents, but she has no immediate family except myself, brother and sister really.

has anyone else had to deal with terminally ill family members?

its scary!

My grandma died of exactly the same thing, it was horrible, as she could no longer talk, or move, her body just shut down slowly Was about 10 years ago if i remember correctly

i never saw him when he was ill, as he is over in cananda, last time i was over there was 2002 i think, wasnt ill then, but i can imagine it was so hard for the grandkids etc... my mum and step dad were out there couple weeks ago and he was different person! its not an illness to be taken lightly from all the stories about him they said when they got back he was a different person , apparently he wasnt eating and drinking properly because he didnt want to be in pain anymore etc

My thoughts go out to you an family. I lost my mum about 3 years ago now when I was 20 (she had kidney failure then got an infection) was virtually given the all clear and back on her feet but still in hospitial. Me and the Mrs had a holiday booked in ibiza from the year before, mum insisted we still go and she was fine.

While we were there found out everything turned for the worst, we had to get emergancy flight back but I was a few hours too late to say goodbye, never felt so much emotional pain like it in my life.

Few weeks ago also lost my granded to cancer, 3 days after that my gf lost her uncle to it - I always feel sorry for the other half thats always left behind...

My grandma couldnt even breath properly, my mum and dad went to see her and she would breathe out, then not breathe in, until her body sub conciously made her do it to survive.

It really isnt a nice illness, i was only about 11 when she died, so i didnt really see her arround that time, as my parents didnt want me to see her like that.

Best mates gf's dad just recently died of cancer. He was on hol just a few weeks before, felt a bit under the weather so went to docs when he got home. They gave him all clear just said to rest up should be fine soon enough. Got a bit worse and then the docs thought he had hep C so they put him in hospital where all seemed ok. He then turned really bad and died..pretty suddenly. Turns out, he had cancer which had spread. Bit vague as I wasn't told much detail and I hate asking. I never met her dad but I know her, and it just felt strange for me knowing he'd gone..It's weird =\
