I dont recognise it as a Wickes light. Plus if it was bought a year ago he wint get one from Wickes as we changed our light range

I would just lie.... say you came home from work/school/college and you found it smashed, and you were really scared as you thought you'd been robbed. Make a big thing how you were worried, they'll forget about the light.

Its weird getting dressed out on the landing so they won't think you broke it

Own up. It'll annoy you if they come back a week and say they've seen a nice light fitting in the hotel on holiday and they're replacing the landing one and they bin your new one.

Get an electrician in to remove the wire, Plaster the whole over the ceiling. They wont even know there was a light there never mind a lampshade.

Im alive! And it turns out they dont make them anymore, they were about £120 each.

BUT! They got sent one more than they ordered so it was going spare in the loft, my dad is actually fitting it right now!
Im so lucky i didnt bother buying one and the fact they had a spare.
