Gen 1 are yes, and the new shape ones (gen 2) use a 1.6 Turbo lump.

supercharged in my opion. Progressive, instant power with balanced driveability.
The turbo version was a bastad in comparison and pulled the car (clubman) all over the place.

Why not?

Im 6ft3 and 14 stone and i still found my cousins one roomy.

I always used to steal it for weeks off him i loved bombing around in it.

the new mini's just look awful imo.

and im not compareing them joe,you cant compare them anyway the classics will win hands down

A guy i know used to have a red cooper and it sounded good with a K+N and Magnex backbox. Was a revvy little fuker.

And lift off oversteer in the wet was a right laugh.Back end would come right around.

Theyrs 1 local one in the creamy white colour with what looks like slightly wider arches(maybe just because theyr colour coded, not sure) and it is by far the nicest colour imo.

The engine in the new one (1.6 Turbo) is a joint French & German venture. It's found on the 207 GTi or something.

There are lots of tuning companies out there that do stuff. Richard Hammond reviewed 3 or 4 on Top Gear once.

You know the new new shape? Well not them.

They did facelift the other ones, moving the fog to the centre rear bumper instead of reverse light.

According to Parkers:
01 - 06 = supercharged.
06 onwards = turbo'd.

They are great little cars but cheap and tacky on the inside for something made by BMW its very poor!

Cooper S was in my top 3 cars to buy loved them since driving one at croft about 4yrs ago! But I didn't rate it for "normal" day to day driving. A toy to chuck around yes as I enjoyed the cooper courtesy car I had for 2 days but so so so glad to hand the shitter back and get my own car back!

Without a doubt utter crap inside, centre panel by radio push it and flexes, little rubber button for the leci mirrors feels like should fall off in your hand, just to name a few things that annoyed the hell out of me!

E90 / 91 / 92 (3 series) is far better quality and build even the basic spec.

the new mini's all have gearboxes that are made of chocolate. had a few people come into work saying they need a gearbox re-build/replace after 35k.

and they munch driveshafts too...BMW cant make FWD cars!
