can't remember off the top of my head what its called, but I use stuff that sorta remembers the position and bounces back to the shape when moved.
So you put a bit of gel in your hair, style it... it dries and looks like normal (not gelled / wet) / feels soft - then you can do anything, brush your hair, go walk around in strong winds etc and it'll simply bounce back into the shape you put it when it dried.
I often wake up the next day hungover and someone thinks I've just got up and styled my hair in the morning but it's just the stuff remembers the shape and returns to it.

although the way you apply the gel can make a difference to how it looks.
i.e. if you use a lot and just apply it to a lump of hair, that's why it looks clumpy / wet.
Get a small amount rub it inbetween your hands to warm it up and then just apply it quickly to a lot of hair and not just 1 bit.

This stuff is really good, looks like there is nothing in your hair, but holds really well, which is surprising as it feels like a light cream when putting it in.
If you want more hold, leave it out with out the lid for a day or two and it hardens slightly.

Buy Here
Think they have a mini one on offer atm (25ml), £1.30 or something, so could try it out for cheap!
To apply, rub all over your hands then rub into all hair, then just style it how you want.
edit - for s**t spelling

fructis work it? green tub with a red lid.
i'm trying that out at the moment but i have to use fructis ultra strong hold high resistance gel on top as it all ''evaporates'' at work as the air in there is very dry still works a treat though.
this is the biggest problem i have to overcome and american crew is the only other one that does that.
