it's had a lot more than just carb's,iirc it's got a complete lightened/knife edged/balanced bottom end, lightened flywheel, headwork, cam and vernier, carbs, exhaust manifold/system and a few other bit's.i can't vouch for the exact power of it but it goes very well for a 1.2.

That's what I thought. As a 1.4 8v / 1.6 8v doesn't look particularly different if I remember.

Lightening a flywheel / bottom end won't really gain you power - it'll just let it rev more freely.

Carbs generally don't get massive gains, and can in some cases lose power. Throttle Bodies are injected and mapped hence the larger gains on TB's ... carbs on the other hand I wouldn't expect a magic amount of power from, especially on a 1.2.

More likely it's as mentioned a 1.4 8v / 1.6 8v with carbs etc.

Either that or the RR figure is wrong / people are over hyping the performance.

For example, compared to a 1.6 16v how does this car compare? it shouldn't be much slower in theory being 110 bhp - but i bet it is.

Or maybe it makes 110bhp at 10 million rpm and absolutely fuck all torque.

I don't see any reason that with the right bits, a 1.2 8v wouldn't make 110bhp.

In the Berg Cup, there's shitloads of small engined cars (under 1300cc) making over 100bhp per litre.

Ford were getting 150bhp from a 1.1 in the 70s, with carbs....

me neither
1.3 16v micra can reach over 100bhp a litre with throttle bodies quite easy.

saying that i don't know a huge amount about the 1.2 vauxhall engine

no it won't have a lot of torque but then what n/a engine under a 2.0 does?it's not hard to beleive a 1.2 can make over 100 bhp without nos or forced induction.

The original question was about throttle bodies, your mate doesn't have throttle bodies even if he has 500bhp.
