SIMS.net isn't that bad, just looks old fashioned.
Those updates are useless, fix one thing and then bugger something else up. The last one I couldn't export marksheets with data on them, came out blank!
PARS.net is useless... agreed. Half of our staff use it and half use paper.
Profiles is crap, took ages to set up and then it stopped working.
Individual Reports I like, but shame you can't do a whole class on one report, has to be page per student.

i'm lucky my position didn't require me to use any of those (apart from Nova-T for timetable looks ups) as im sure i would have been fired for excessive swearing Both systems are just as bad as each other, like you say, they fix one problem and it causes more.

The recent update requires .Net Framework 2 to be installed to ALL pc's that want to use the software....there's an Msi on Microsoft's site which can easily be deployed with Active Directory.

About the course
The management of the construction procurement process is fundamental in securing the right quality building, on time and at the right price. Meeting these demands is very much the focus of the skills base for a Quantity Surveyor.
The work of the Quantity Surveyor serves various participants in the property and construction industry - the client commissioning a building; the main contracting company responsible for undertaking the construction; or a specialist sub contractor responsible for key components of a building. Apart from building construction, there are also opportunities to work with civil engineers in the construction of infrastructure work or with property based organisations in the management of building facilities.
There are also specialisms within the profession such as project management, legal experts, tax consultants, value and risk management.
While the course provides the necessary vocational and professional skills for a career in quantity surveying, it strongly develops the personal enhancement of such qualities as communication, analysis and applied IT skills.

So does that mean the degree will be more focused upon project managment rather than project costing? Shame I didn't get that option as Project Managment is something I'd like to get into in the future
