I wouldn't go that far as saying it's monsterous! I take it you have driven one then to comment on the FRS torque steer?

JILL
Agreed, its hardly monstorus... and the look on folks faces when they see a Ford keeping up with them/beating them is priceless tbf (esp gayman drivers )... on that basis EsCos every time!

Isn't the Cossie technically a Sierra?

yes and no

floorpan yes, body is escort cosworth

nothing else like it, it looks like a mk5a escort but is pretty different

I have the story of the escort cosworth video at home

I know its not an escort underneath and bla bla but it's still an old escort, imo of course.

He'd be buying a 15 year old car thats not as good as the brand new one and it would cost the same.

Think id rather get an Evo 8 MR, one like a guy on here just sold.

More interesting than a VXR
More reliable than a cossie/probably not been nicked at some point
Quicker than both

i can see the merits of both, but IMO a escos has so much more about it than either the vxr or an evo

i still dont understand whats so special about cosworths at the end of the day i am a fan of them but they are just a escort with wide arches 2.0 turbo engine and a shopping trolley spoiler which has to be the worst part of them, the wrc spoiler looks loads better, the wheels on cossie are very nice though....

surely the cossie still suffers from crappy problems like lower arms on fords which seem to give very easy......

none of this means i think vxr is better not even bin in one but i have bin up close and driven a cossie.......

Astra VXR no doubting it

Fair enough the escort cossie is a stunning car but there still nothing but a 10yr+ old ford escort

but in all fairness, all the astra is an astra

diffrence is ones a legend, and goes up in value, and the other ones a vauxhall

I know what you mean mate but I just prefer the newness of the astra.

The escort has a very bad rep with it either being stolen/smashed etc at some point in its long life where as thats more than unlikely with the astra

Anyways if you want a true legend then go for the REAL cosworth and not just one that was make to sell more escorts lol, a 3dr sierra

The cossie only goes up in value to help the owners of them recoop loses from repair bills

Everyone I know whos had one, has spent 1000's sometimes 10,000's it just maintenance and repairs and modifying

Got to be the cosworth!

Had a 2wd flint grey saff it was great fun and unbeliveably never suffered from any problems apart from a seized handbrake.
