Could you not skip the training fees and just study yourself? Only have the exams to pay for then.

I won't do it, as to hit the £30k they advertise on TV you basically have to work all the hours under the sun, and i'm not sure there is as big a demand for lessons as they make out.
Theres also how you obtain lessons ie advertising etc as well.

The other thing ...

45 hours a week ...

45 hours = 45 lessons??

don't forget you have to get to and from lessons, i.e. you can't have a lesson at 10pm with one person, then someone else at 11 and then someone else at 12.

Quite right, plus thats not including any breaks for lunch etc. I bet after doing the sums properly you earn next to nothing.

Money isnt that great and the 30k is very ambitious, you have to pay for your own fuel for the car

zero stress job though I suppose, your warm and dry all day, and as said the fanny is an extra bonus

Is that estimation of fuel cost not a little low considering they are saying you will be instructing for an average of 45 hours per week

Exactly, im £65 a week in fuel & I only drive an hour a day Mon-Fri

As I said £30k is working all the hours under the sun & I wasn't prepared to do that.
I did try to get my money back, but apparently I could only do that if I applied for a refund within the 1st 30 days. But i've never had a call from the company checking my progress like they said they would.

I'd only do it if it was with the AA, BCM etc as people contact them direct for lessons more.

But as people have said, to earn the £30k they rant and rave about, you have to work 7 days per week. My driving instructor told me this (he was independent). He said you have to pay quite a lot in franchise fee's etc.

If you're not worried about money, I can't see why it wouldn't be an option.

I'm bad enough in the passenger seat with a qualified driver in the driver's seat, I'd probably have a nervous breakdown in the first 5 minutes

My dad is a driving instructor; set up about 5 years ago and is fully booked all the time. So much so that he has taken on another driver! A franchise is a rip off; prob best to train up and start maybe part time (eve's and weekends) to build up a client base. We have always had new mini's and they are a hit with pupils
