Ed - i can see that point but what i am saying is there are some that never ever turn a wheel and like fad says some cars with cages and racing stuff on that never see a track.

Part of the thing of owning a showcar is the enjoyment in looking after it and keeping it spotless.
How many "supercar" owners do you see spending 6 hours+ cleaning their car? Or would they get a valeter to come in and do it for them...
Most modified cars are driven, you will find its more "tuner" cars that have highly tuned engines that get driven to places.
And if your going for a proper show and shine, why spend weeks cleaning, to have it rain and get trashed on the way. I can fully understand those that take it to the extreme cleaning and want them to remain spoltess.
I guess you either understand or you don't.......

You might find that some people spend a while cleaning the car at home, then stick it on a trailer to get to the show.
You used to see a lot of the cars that ride around on trailers at cruises, which they had been driven to...

No, a supercar is just another car, but to a higher quality standard.
I have more respect and admiration for someone who has restored a 20 year old car and its better than showroom condition, than some yuppie who ahs gone into a dealer and bought something everyone else has.
RE yawning at a Lambo, yes, many times. Maybe its where i've worked and the fact i'd see them all the time (not so much now), but its just another car. Just faster.
I've seen better interiors, more pretty exteriors, on modified cars than I have a normal supercar...

Does get thrashed when I take it out though
i miss not seeing your car about any more

disagree, i would have a roll cage in every car if it was practical, even the mini is getting one, and that wont see the track

I have no issue with someone having a weekend car or a 'show-car'.
What I think is ridicolous is someone building a 'show-car' too low/wide/uncomfortable to be driven on a road - as that is defeating the object of being a car in the first place.

Yea, they do have to be drivable, otherwise it completely defeats the object of it being a car

I think most of the criticism of cars which are trailered is based on their practicality, rather than the condition that the owner wants to keep them in. ie. something with a massive kit and no turning circle isn't usable on the road, therefore is trailered to events.
Concourse stuff is different, of course that is about presentation and therefore presenting the car well requires you to take care. But those cars could work as cars, it would just be a shame to get them dirty - which a lot of people do I know. Credit to them.

(this however doesn't cover if you have just won the bloody lotery :lol Anyone can stick a kit on a car clean the underneath and say right this is going to be trailered everywhere as i don't want to get it dirty.
And how is owning a totally customised to the owner any different bar the badge? (not talking person).
Frankly, buying a supercar is easy, anyone can do it.
Building a car, stripping it down, having the PERSONNAL effort, the time, the care, the love, the cleaning, the sorting of problems, makes a custom showcar FAR FAR FAR more personnal and interesting than a supercar.........
Oh look, another Lamborgini, Ferrari *YAWWWWWNS*
What the hell is that car??? Nice paint, lovely interior.. Just the stigma of "boyracer" lingers with a modified car....
You say anyone can stick a kit on, well if its so easy, why is there so much tatty rubbish modified crap on the road?
Modified cars are for the individual, unless your building it for attention, in which case theres deeper issues.
Problem I have with 'show cars' is that most of them look like shit. There is none of the subtlety, tact or style that you would find in a supercar, just a polished turd with lambo doors.
When one goes past me I don't go 'wow, what car is that' I go 'wow, what the fuck was he thinking'

Also, some of the cars that have been really highly tuned cant be used everyday due to the likes of running costs, practicality and the risk of having to fork out for engine rebuilds

Why the fcuk are you lot on a modified car website then? Why do you use ANY modified car website if thats your opinion????
Sure theres a lot of "turds" out there that people "think" are top showcars, but this isn't the case for many.
BUT
There ARE load of very very good showcars out there that get driven loads.
Frankly, if someone wants to spend £50k modifying a hot hatch into something completly custom and unique, and has done it properly, well for me personnally, its far more interesting to look at than yet another exactly the same lambo or porsche..... I don't think "you twat" I think "i'd like a closer look to see how well it has/has not been completed"
Is anyone of these people going to say they think the £20+k corsa owners are stupid to their faces on here??? Its just a corsa, why spend so much money on it???
I very much doubt ANY one on here would go up to the owners face and say what they think. It'll be all hush hush between mates, then flame them on the forum where its nice and safe.

I'd say it to your face.
I was also under the impression this is a corsa forum which happens to have users with modded cars, not a modded car forum

Daimo, why are you so aggressive towards everyone?
Just because people don't agree with you doesn't make them wrong, you know... In fact, even you, King DaimoB can be wrong

My corsa was the only car i owned, so it was my everyday drive. I took it everywhere...
I dont see the point of spending 25k on a car and not driving it. I also cant see why people buy a run around when they have a show car, why drive something rubbish when you have a nice car to use...

I see most the people that say why have a show car and never drive it? And most are driving around in generic cars with little money spent on them and parts widely available at good prices.
I used to think the same, untill i spent ££££s and hours of time finding parts for my nova that il probably never find again. Thats my exact reason for keeping my car locked in a garage on rainy days and only bringing it out on the odd occasion. So it doesnt rust, or the local cock in a valver corsa or saxo can ram up my arse trying to spur me on for a race. Tbh even if there was no chance of rain or someone crashing into me id still only drive it every so often. It just makes that drive you do make all the better, and keeps a grin on your face.

We use the skyline about twice a month, the 911 maybe twice a week for 6months of the year, and the Navara the rest
Whats the point in using them more? Just because I have them doesnt mean I HAVE to use them. I use them when i feel like it.
They have their faults... meaning that driving daily/more would be a PITA
